In a lot of pain today so happy to see the desk top arrive to sit it on I'm sitting here with it almost at me chest ! As the legs of it are a bit too long, hanging over the edge of the settee Not sure about it
Will the legs fold up, @Patsy Faye , and then it can just rest in your lap ? It almost sounds like they sent you a bed tray rather than a lap desk. Mine has a fluffy underside filled with those styrofoam bits, so it is movable to whatever is most comfortable; but it does not have any legs on it, and it either rests on my lap or on the arm of the recliner. If the legs will fold, you could leave one over the edge of the chair for stability, and fold up the one that makes it too tall, or just fold up both of them. I hope that as the weather warms up, you will start feeling better, too. It is chilly here this week, but after Thursday, we have some warmer weather supposed to come in again. How are you liking having the laptop itself, and are you getting used to the new Windows yet ?
I don't know what your settee is like and I don't have a laptop but sitting here in my recliner with my iPad, I can picture putting a long board over the two arm rests and then putting my laptop on that, then maybe putting something like a pillow under your typing arm...this all depends on the height of the armrests. I fit in my recliner with Pickles stretched out next to me and I could easily put a board over my lap and even Pickles and it's a smaller recliner.
@Yvonne Smith - yes Yvonne the laptop is fine and we made adjustments to windows 10 so it is almost like my bigger laptop The tray - I realised it was actually different to the picture on Ebay, so I'm sending it back The other problem with it was, it was quite heavy and I felt very confined having to sit still, I usually have to keep getting up as I can't sit too long, this was not possible without having to move the laptop, then the tray each time Oh, as I write, Fabs has found a laptop stand that I thought we had got rid of. Its small and just fits on the arm of the settee It raise the laptop a little. I will try this - at least I can move when I need to
I only have the one arm of the settee to use Chrissy - otherwise it was a fab idea - aren't I a nuisance
Mine looks just like this one , Patsy, except mine is a plain grey one and does not have the handy little light. If I ever get another one, I will get one like this that has the little USB light because it is so handy, and easy to charge back up when needed. There is a soft cushion underneath, and mine is made with the little styrofoam bits, so it can be positioned however it is most comfortable. I use mine on one arm of the chair, so the arm of your settee should work the same way. When I get up, I just stand it up along side of the chair with the iPad.
Hi Yvonne - I have had the above for a few years now and I did try it, didn't like on my lap too big for the arm, plus the tilt isn't stable. If we can find desk chairs that don't have ridiculous 'wide' legs (caster type) then Fabs will redesign where we sit at the computers. He built the area originally to suit a large keyboard for when we were writing songs. Finding chairs has not been easy though - so far @Yvonne Smith
Hard day yesterday searching for a suitable chair, have ordered one that may be OK Will be delivered later today and Fabs will assemble it tomorrow Its a start .................
Its done ! The unit is finally in place and I have me chair. I like that I can swivel (gently mind) to one side to get out I'm sitting here at me new desk now Didn't enjoy the process of it all and I'll probably suffer tomorrow 'cos of it One last thing is a new rug to get on Monday, as usual, can't get the size needed, so will have to cut it then tape the end of it to seal it. Then - I'm set
