Back in 1952, I recall a comic Gospel Song by the Delta Rhythm Boys called "Dry Bones", based on a passage from Ezekiel 37:1-10, where Ezekiel gathers bones from the Valley of the Bones and assembles a Skeleton that walks around, then disassembles it in reverse order! Check it out: Google "Dry Bones Delta Rhythm Boys" Thanks, Hal
Istanbul (not Constantinople) - The Four Lads "A 1953 novelty song, written on the 500th anniversary of the fall of Constantinople to the Ottomans."
That's it that's the song believe it or not I had it on 78 RPM. A few years ago I found their album in a thrift store I have it somewhere, they recorded other novelty songs.
I believe from what I remember reading the song was banned because they were being sued by Cameron Swayze who they imitated on the record.
I had this album which was released in 1962 there's always sorry I gave it away. it had a whole host of funny songs like "throwing the high school basketball game", "blind date yaaaaaaaaa" Plus other funny titles and songs all done 2 the rock and roll Style of the times.
Here's a Ragtime tune that American soldiers sang "over there" in WW1: "Good morning, Mr. Zip Zip Zip, with your haircut just as short as mine, Good morning, Mr. Zip Zip Zip, you sure are lookin' fine, Ashes to Ashes and Dust to Dust, If Camels don't get you, then Fatimas must, Good morning, Mr. Zip Zip Zip, with your haircut just as short as, Your haircut just as short as, Your haircut just as short as mine!" I would have imported the whole song, but I don't have "PASTE" anymore. Hal
