Men wear a 'cup' to protect the wrong part of their body, sometimes. Maybe that is why they are still doing this pastime and women aren't?
The bulls we had were too large and scary, I had no desire to try to ride any of them, cup or no cup.
This is why I became a roper/Team Roper, instead of a saddle bronc or bareback bronc rider.........much, much easier on the body. As for bull riding, that wasn't even close to being a consideration. Nope, absolutely not!
in the kingdom of hawaii (big island and maui) there are communities who carry on the old traditions. i've had the honor of staying at the parker ranch and interacted with the mustangs that they had there. similarly, there's also a rich heritage of paniolo life in the philippines harking back to the days of spanish colonialism. on a sidenote: i had a chance to ride a shire horse while on break between performances (professional skateboarder) at spokane co. state fair in 1980... that was when mount st. helen blew her top raining ash which made skating pepsi's polycarbonate ramp so dangerous. riding that horse was like doing the splits! ever since then i've always admired the scent of horses (especially on a woman).
