I don't remember the cable channel but I sometimes see my husband watching old tv shows some weeks ago. What I remember was Twilight Zone, the black and white tv version of the olden times. He said that it is a rerun, obviously it is. And another time, I noticed Fantasy Island (not sure with the title), that's tall guy with his small side kick called Tattoo who never fails to amuse me with his announcement of the plane's arrival which carries the island's guests for the episode.
Some of these old tv shows has me laughing so hard and loud that I sometimes wonder if my neighbors hear me. Cheers is a good example of that!
Anyone remember Cagney and Lacey? I have been watching Netflix and came across the TV series Burn Notice and Sharon Gless who starred in Cagney and Lacey. She hasn't changed much. I always loved her smile. She is an "and" on the show. I don't really know what the "and" signifies in the credits but my guess is a supporting actress. I don't know any of the regular cast members but many well known stars have appeared in the episodes. Burt Reynolds was in the one I saw last night.
The Golden Girls is so good and funny, I had to get the complete series on dvds and I've already watched them all! That was another example of a show that has me laughing hard and loud when I watch it!
I've been watching HEE HAW a lot recently. Wagon Train and Wanted, Dead or Alive are on everyday lately along with Gunsmoke and Laramie
Watching the old black and white series from the 50's and 60's is like inviting an old friend to come over for a visit. Most of us grew up with these shows being watched as a family. Mom, Dad, brothers and sisters would gather and watch these shows together. Maybe they didn't test the borders of social issues; they just made us care or laugh. This is why I still watch them. For me, it was always 'Family Time'.
They may still be able to recreate the broadcasts, but they will never recreate the awe & wonder of the audience!
