Ha ha - I don't see the connection at all
I'm often in trouble because I stand up to the big guns, I won't be bullied and I don't take jargon that is
pure manipulation - but most people do !

Same here - even if I'm feeling down, why make someone else miserable too
I can go back to me flat and have a moan about the injustices of life then put some music on and I cope
If I continue down the road of negative - I'll sink into it

Being pessimistic isn't about "standing up for yourself", it's about feelings a person has about things. A number of folks in this forum are much more optimistic than I am. I tried to be in the middle, IOW, both optimistic and pessimistic, not more one than the other. Thing is, sometimes I am more pessimistic, like Holly, because I am "street smart". Look up "street smart" and see what it means.

Answer........don't let yourself sink. One thing for sure, there is a LOT of negative stuff in today's world. Basically, the only way to get away from it is to not to look at news and/or what's going on in the world.

I was answering your message above
Anyway, I'm sure we're all negative at times all I'm saying is its easy to give in to it, I've had those times and its horrible for me
So given a choice, I'll choose to get out of that way

Sometimes a person who is overly optimistic, like my wife's sister, is what some call a "closet case", which means, they don't really know what real life is about. That SIL will ask me "why did someone bomb" (this place or that) and I will tell her it's a religion/hate thing. My brother's wife is the same way, I will say something to her and she can easy say back "what do you mean, I've never heard of that". Both ladies were (sort of) raised in a closet, not to know anything about bad stuff in the world. My wife was sort of like that, until she learned more about the "real world" from me.

There again, Patsy, that's called "burying your head in the sand" like an Ostrich, so not to know what happening locally or in the world. We don't do that. I check my iPhone first the in the AM to find out what's been going on (sometimes, most crime) in our area. Seems like there are a lot of folks here that "bury their heads into the sand", because they don't want to know about all the crime here. Makes them much more comfortable living here.

    Oh Cody you're too much
I know exactly what's going on and I've had enough of listening to it
There is nothing I can do to help the child victim of a paedophile, which is non stop today
There is nothing I can do about changing the world to be a better place
But I can make it better for me by switching off !

That's true, Patsy. Once I see the local or national news, I don't want to see it again, but my wife hasn't seen it yet, so I have to watch it again. But, that's ok. Whenever I hear about a mass shooting or something like that, I automatically turn on CNN or HLN to see what happened. But, that's me.

Some of the things I have been through in my life have made me sometimes "cautiously" optimistic in regard to like scenerios. But overall I tend to look for the blessings in everything that comes my way...even when they may be hiding really well and take me awhile to find. :)

Yeah but sometimes there just aren't any blessings no matter how hard you look...just the way life is...

There is always a blessing to me @Chrissy Cross...even if it is only that I lived through something or can be thankful that it wasn't worse, etc. :)

I can't think of one blessing about my husband dying when I was 53.

I can. You can be thankful for all the good years you did have with him...we all are going to die sooner or later. You were blessed to have all the years you did with that loving husband.
