I have never ridden a horse in my 75 years, and don't plan to start now. But I will say that his whole obsession/fascination with the "proper" "cowboy" attire, only a certain brand of jeans, a particular type of hat, a specific type of boots, shirts with a special type of button, and now creases in said jeans all seems kinda, well, gay. ("Not that there's anything wrong with that...")

Maybe Cody's own words, "Ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous," might apply. :D

So if these events can only be held in areas where they reflect daily life, where in the heck do circuses fit in?

Alright yawl , cut ole Cody some slack. @Cody Fousnaugh - either go and enjoy or stay home if not up to your standard of fun. Wearing jeans, boots and a hat is, normal western wear, especially at western clubs, here. The goat roper effect. But if you add spurs, a lasso, and belt buckle big as our state of Texas - that is a costume, wherever you go.

Well, Hoot, all of these brands, including Cinch, a major sponsors of professional rodeo. I don't expect anyone not involved as a fan or contestant to understand. Not all rodeo contestants or fans will wear "rodeo" brand clothing, but many do.

And, just to let you know, their is a gay organization for rodeo.

Cody is a small city in Wyoming. Not me! Besides that, my wife told me straight up, "absolutely not" to moving to anywhere in Texas.

Heidi, let me clue you in on something, a rather large belt buckle could be a trophy buckle won at a rodeo, not bought in a store. The size of a World Champion buckle is pretty big.
And, after a Saturday night rodeo in Temecula, California, none of us in Timed Events took off our spurs when we left the rodeo grounds and went to local nightclub called The Stampede. The Bouncers didn't say a word to us about having our spurs on yet. We simply forgot to take them off.

The County Fair is fun, but the theme for this years one is just plain funny. "Cowboy Boots and Country Roots" simply doesn't go with the area at all. It's just the theme I'm talking about in this thread. We still plan on going.
