Concerning the title --- How does anyone know what prayers have been answered or not? Maybe 50% of all prayers are being answered unbeknownst to us. The secret is understanding prayer and its connection to the subconscious mind. Of course, generic repetitious prayers such as one may hear at mealtime, may seeming show results at an alarmingly high rate. When you bless a bad cook's hands, that is just encouragement for them to keep cooking. A proper prayer at my table would be.

"Our heavenly father, please restrain Faye's hands from preparing food ever again."

Joy, you are no bother and you are certainly as entitled as anyone to post your opinions. It just seems that we often don't agree on things, which makes life a little more interesting. ;)

God answers all prayers...... just not always according to our timing.

Sometimes God say yes, sometime HE says not now, and sometime HE says No that is not my will for you.

@Joy Martin ..you are not a bother Joy. Some of life's best blessings come from unanswered prayers.
I do not hang with anyone one who feels it necessary to tell me I am going to rot in hell because I do no attend church. That is not their decision. Listen to yourself, do and feel what is best for you. I will say this, I was shocked when I first came to SOC as the number of non believers on here, was even questioning my own beliefs after reading posts. I do not believe in organized religion, is the main thing, for me.
Search and seek, you will find and answer for you.

I'm 'shocked' in a way, at the sheer number of unbelievers anywhere, even in churches. And yes, especially on any internet site.

I don't hang with her, we did in our very early 20's, I helped her get her apt when she was "normal" and now she's my neighbor....talk about hindsight, I said we don't talk for months....did you read my words??

Any situation at all, ever , that comes up, I hope to be already prepared for, never to be anxious about anything, never to be afraid, never without hope,
hopefully learning 'more' gentleness as God Permits, when His Will,
    >>

    Philippians 4:5-7
    New International Version

Let your gentleness be evident to all.

    The Lord is near.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Why are you always quoting scripture when it's obvious that someone who doesn't believe in God is not going to believe the Bible? That is not "proof."

For those of you following the god of this world, I don't expect you to listen nor to learn anything good or true.

I continue my "prayers" affirmations and talk to the Univrese every morning. Thank the universe for all it's goodness. Man has done a great job of screwing it up.

Last night on C2C I came away believing less and less in a god, soul and any here after....Matthew Alper convinced me more...Talking about other Religions of the World like Buddists and Hindus and their "gods"

And got into Evolution on how we got here.

"I’ve seen individuals cured of diseases when there was no hope. "

Please list the diseases cured, that you have seen. I'd be very interested .

And do not include 'drug addiction' as the first step to drug addiction is usually choice.

I'm not talking about 'remission' or symptons controlled ... I'm talking cured.

Ah, a doubter and I am VERY sure I have already listed a few miracles over the past 8 or so years on this forum. But, to appease the curious…

Subject: My dad. Faith: Atheist. Diagnosis: Inoperable/incurable Cancer throughout his lymph glands, liver, brain, lungs etc.
When I was notified he had less than a week to live.

I flew to Florida to visit him at the hospital and prayed for him just as many others were doing.
I flew back to Idaho and when I got there my brother called me and told me that Dad woke up that morning totally free from cancer and consequently went on as a staunch believer.

    Now, that’s just one.
Throughout my travels in the Rescue Missions Ministry, I knew a fella who had a brain tumor that totally disappeared, another guy with a massive cyst on the back of his neck go away, a man with no cartilage between a few of his vertebrae healed and the last I knew he was delivering bread to missions in Phoenix.
That said, those are just 4 or 5 but I could indeed write a book about all the things I have been so privileged to witness.

Notably, no one has to believe me and to that, I really don’t care.
Jesus proved that miracles do not necessarily make for a bunch of believers because it’s human nature to doubt even that which is right in front of them and also doubt those who they have no reason to doubt.

@Bobby Cole..only once in my life I have I actually witnessed a healing as people prayed over the man. He had gone to the dentist, and I assume had some dental work done. One side of his face was swollen to the point of looking like the elephant man.
We were gathered in a friends house and he was sitting on the couch, a minister was beside him, along with 3 or 4 others. They were doing the praying in tongues thing. I had my head bowed out of respect for their praying. When I looked up I was amazed ...not perfect but his swollen face had been reduced to almost a normal size. No ice packs seen , they did not believe in medicines.

I’m glad you got the chance to witness that.
It may sound contradictory but to the believer in answered prayer, there is no such thing as a miracle. If a child asked his or her dad for glass of water, would it be a miracle if he gave the water to the child?
It’s the same thing when it comes to our relationship with the Father. It’s just what a good Father does.

I had one of my students come to me who was saddened that he didn’t get what he prayed for. He told me that after my sermon on prayer, he prayed nearly all night for God to find a way for him to get a motorbike because he had to walk to work every day.
As the story goes, he went to work the next day and his boss presented him with a 12 speed bicycle so he wouldn’t have to walk to work any longer.
The student told me that he thanked his boss and was glad to have the bike etc etc and held his disappointment until he came to see me.

Now back to the beginning, when he finished complaining about it, I asked him what he really prayed for and he told me he prayed for a “Bike” because in some circles a motorcycle is called a Bike.
I had to tell the guy that he got exactly what he prayed for and if perchance God did understand what was meant, he probably wasn’t really ready to have a motorcycle anyway seeing that he had only been sober for a few months so God arranged the next best and safer thing.

Note: A couple of sober years down the line, my student moved into a small duplex and his neighbor (a senior lady) gave him a motorcycle because her son lived in Europe and no longer needed the bike.
