Just looked at the link for Housing and didn't see a thing. Everything is either HUD related, of which we want no part of, or Disabled Veterans, of which I am not. Actually, and I would tell Bobby the same thing, I have never been to a VA Clinic where there is a corkboard with things "Help For Vets" posted. I've never had the need, and still don't, to go to a Dept. of Veterans Services office. And, the last time I was inside a VA Hospital was in 1988. I only go to a VA Clinic. All surgeries/hospital stays are thru Medicare.
We have never needed, or wanted, low income housing. Crime and drugs always seem to invade those housing areas.
Yeh, I couldn't find anything on that website either. The Boulder City VA page is within the National VA website, so it's not detailed for that region. That's why I included the phone# in my comment. It couldn't hurt to call and see what they have to offer.
I merely looked to make sure there was a VA clinic nearby simply because you write about going so much. Now, so far as an info area or a cork board, if you’re not looking for it why would you see one? Every VA affairs office I have gone to has pamphlets showing how you can buy a home through the VA at a low % interest rate. And…most of them have advertisements from vets who own homes if they wish to rent. The reason most of them do that is because they only want to accept military veterans. Anyway, I should know better than to suggest anything to you because you’re going to find a reason why you don’t like it so good luck and I do hope whatever you find and wherever you go is what you really want and need. I would be a good thing to read somewhere down the line that you’ve finally reached a point when you are content and have no complaints.
I would think all of us that are already in our 70s and higher, the lenders have a blind eye, even if a loan is VA guaranteed. Maybe you could find something getting help from the American Legion. Also there are always lots of members of local Moose Lodges that have insight to where good housing might be. I haven't been in the need of expensive housing for so long I no longer have any experience doing so. Then of course I am not married so I can manage very well living as I do. What ever makes the cats happy makes me happy
I freak out looking at posts here and elsewhere where monthly rents (or even monthly real estate taxes) are higher than what I pay here in taxes for a full year. I couldn't survive. I'd have to get a fast food job so I could pay the rent/taxes and get free meals out of the trash.
Unfortunately, there are those, who when they attain the ability to hear the sound of one hand clapping, will complain about the noise.
Bobby, most seniors complain about something. I'm sure I'm not the only one in this forum who has complained about something or another. The only thing I have to do with the VA is their medical. Nothing else.
