There are many forums out there where you cannot question the admin's decisions in any way shape or form without risking a suspension or ban... That's why I love @Ken Anderson 's very even handedness on this forum. I feel you have to push Ken's buttons with a sledgehammer before he'll take drastic action....
@Holly Saunders Right you are! I got the feeling early-on in other forums that the "boss" often was off on an ego-trip, the type individual who garnered self-satisfaction by "lording-it" over others. In his day-to-day experiences, that option might not, if ever, be open to his use; the forum's confines allowed unbridled control. Frank
Well, the fact is that the owner/admin of a forum has gone to the work and expense of creating and maintaining the forum, so they should have the last word on forum matters. Most forums I belong to have the "do not question or discuss moderator actions" rule.
I agree , absolutely they should, but some forums admin are like little dictators, and often they have a clique of admin who encourage or condone cliques within the membership , therefore setting up a bullying culture...

Yes, it is very frustrating when you can't express your opinion without others hurling abuse at you. There is another site for older folks, two actually, which I left because I dared to disagree with the prevailing view. I think they don't actually want those of a different persuasion to join in, so they use bullying and personal attacks to discourage it.
Was one run by a Russian and is very anti American. And the other run by a Welsh man??????? Been banned by the first for standing up to their crap And had 5 Temp bans by the second one
One is run by a Russian, but I've not had a problem with that one .. ... The one I'm referring to is run by an Englishman , it's not him whose the problem, rather his clique moderators who have their favourites ... I know one run by a Welshman..not sure if it's the same guy but probably is, (but if it is he's very nice really) and he's probably reading this..
The one run by Taffy the mods are brilliant really a great site But AZZ throws his toys out of the pram too much
Not sure we're talking about the same site..AZZ means nothing to me... ...incidentally with regard to the Russian.. ( I'm surprised to hear they don't like Americans, there's quite a few American members)
Oh not always Rosie... 2 forums I know have horrible Mods..very clique'y who always seem to favour the troublemakers. One particular site even made one of the worst troublemaker posters into a MOD... and now she swans around thinking she is made of Teflon! ..but yes there are some horrible hitler-esque Admin out there.... We're very lucky here with @Ken Anderson , and also with the Admin and mod of another forum I use daily... very decent people all of them who go out of their way , spend their own time and money.. to provide a friendly place for us all to gather together as friends ( or enemies )
I can only judge by my own experiences, but it sounds as though we are talking about the same sites. When I first joined, someone warned me that so-and-so were actually very good friends with the mods, and they were allowed to do more or less as they pleased. It's pretty pathetic really, that people have to resort to the internet to exercise their natural tendency to bully. Presumably, because they can't do it in their real lives.
