That pic should help with identification. Many names for weeds I use. Lots of people use the latin instead of common names as there are a lot of different names for the same plant. I use tulip for that one.
mine are opening up all the way narrower petals .. once completely open can tell more yours looks good !
I was just on the porch and the monarch butterflies are loving these milkweed plants. They keep laying their eggs on the leaves and then drinking from the flowers over and over. The eggs turn into caterpillars and eat all the leaves off before turning into a cocoon and then butterflies. It's fun to watch the butterflies, and these milkweed plants are everywhere because the seeds blow all around the yard every season.
I have a few of the subspecies called butterfly plant or butterfly weed plant. We've always had them in orange, last year I purchased some in pink and red.
I would like to have some of the other color ones too, these are only yellow. The butterflies don't seem to care about the color, so that's a good thing, I guess.
This Valencia orange produced quite a few oranges last summer but they didn't get as big as they should have. But since it's gotten bigger, I've been making the compost around it to feed it, when I turn the compost I move it around the tree each time to a different spot. It's staying green year-round, and I think it likes that. Looking forward to bigger and sweeter oranges this year. The old fig tree on the right bottom of the photo; is still producing every year.
