Dunno Thomas. I still remember eating a ton of C-Rats and I can’t say what mess is like for our guys in Poland but maybe pizza isn’t too bad of a thing to have. Ribeyes would be better but in the absence of that and the way a couple of soldiers are looking, if the guy who put them there wasn’t part of the equation they’d probably be pretty happy with the pizza. Heck, for all I know, Pizza might be part of the mess menu nowadays.
The media excoriated Trump for feeding burgers to visiting college athletes, yet they gush over "Regular Ol' Joe" for eating pizza with our troops.
In 1968 until I left near the end of 70 I never had steak. It was a written order from DA that all in country troops have steak on the menu twice a week. It arrived at Saigon docks and was instantly distributed to every hotel and billet for journalist and the rest went on the black market. You could fly to Saigon and go into the big PX and buy the steak that was delivered for we troops. Disgraceful ! The first sgt in charge of enlisted and officers clubs was jailed for stealing the money from the slot machines in some clubs, not all had them only the gear in the rear places.
uh huh Gen. Woodbridge was tied up in the slots and booze fiasco and if I’m not mistaken he even wrote that Gen. Westmoreland knew what was going on but didn’t do anything about it. There were 4 or 5 Sergeants who were actually indicted for skimming and stuff but I don’t recall if Woodbridge or Westmoreland got anything except for some bad press. There weren’t any Presidents visiting us but we did have a Bob Hope show. My ship was in for PE and I was able to go but I decided that beer sounded better than looking at round eye’d gals from the world and getting home sick.
No, it’s not a meme. It’s a short video but it definitely is political in nature and published by……The Babylon Bee.
I was toying with putting this meme in economics, make me laugh or something like that but to be truthful, it’s all politics and nothing more.
