I am curious about how all those videos people post on YouTube. Does anyone happen to know if they get paid for their video work ? If so, how does that work ? Does YouTube pay and if so is it based on how many people watch the video ?
I don't know much about it, but as I understand it a person's channel must be "monetized" and have a certain number of views/subs. That's as far as my knowledge goes.
When you see an advertisement before the actual video, then it is monetized, and I think they will earn money every time someone watches their video. If the video plays without any ad, then it is not monetized, and they do not earn money. However, some people nowadays advertise a product during their video (like a podcast), so they would then get paid from the sponsor of the product advertised, and not through youtube itself. My son and both grandsons have youtube channels, and they just do it for fun and not for money.
I have a YouTube channel and make no money from it (i.e., not monitized) and do it for fun and providing enjoyment to others.
