I spent most of my life a few blocks from a beach and after 59 years I am finally living inland. It is the first time that I have not had to cross a bridge to get to most places or see the ocean, see Seagulls or smell the sea breeze. I live in Central Florida due go Hurricane concerns. However, being a narrow State I am only one hour to the Eastern Beaches and 1 1/2 hours from the Western Beaches. One good thing is that now my things do not get corroded by salt air. Then again I have go deal with wet humid air that makes you feel wet. It is so thick at times that you can feel it. Also makes the temperature feel 10 degrees higher. My thermostat is not only set to a temperature before it turns on the A/C but also the humidity level that it should kick in.
Why we want to leave Florida...….tropic storms, hurricanes (as in Mathew and Irma), killer humidity and gators everywhere. Only kidding about the "gators everywhere", but there are those in the U.S. that do think that way.
I also grew up near different oceans. Alantic, Pacific and the Gulf. Learned to swim and suba dive in the ocean and learning to sail on an Ocean are memories I will always carry with me. Enjoyed the mountains when I lived in Colorado and Washington State, but my heart is still near an Ocean.
