Six point seven earthquake seventy-five miles north of Anchorage, Alaska this morning, No reports of damage or injury. A developing story.
I just got that alert on my Apple Watch a few minutes ago, too. It said they had issued a tsunami warning as well. Are you near that quake, @Don Alaska , and , if so, are you doing okay ? Here is the USGS map for the quake and where it was felt. https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/us1000hyfh/shakemap/intensity
I know he has said what part of Alaska they live in, but I don’t remember, Holly. Here are some photos of earthquake damage, and those highways are really badly damaged. Hoping everyone survived this ! https://www.thisisinsider.com/anchorage-alaska-earthquake-pictures-videos-devastation-2018-11
Oh Jeez that's a substantial hit .. yes I remember Don saying where he lived but I can't remember except he did say it was quite a way from Anchorage, so that's a bit of a concern ...
Just had a search and it looks like Don is 350 miles south of Fairbanks, if anyone can work our how close that is to the Quake...
NOT GOOD ! ! I just looked on google maps, and Anchorage is straight south of Fairbanks, and the map said it is 359 miles from one to the other. Hopefully, he is not that far south of Fairbanks, and if he was, I would think that he would have used Anchorage as a reference instead.
My stepdaughter lives near Palmer, and she just posted on Facebook that she is safe, and Palmer is just north of Anchorage, not that far.
I, too, hope @Don Alaska and his family are safe. Has anyone heard from him? Are there any fatalities listed on the news?
Here's a map showing earthquakes in Alaska. It's from the University of Alaska Fairbanks Earthquake Center. It looks like they have more of them than I would have thought.
