When I first got the two bantams that I let loose in the yard I left the barn door open a little so they could Roost in there if they wished. After a week or so I found no evidence that they were using The Barn at all to spend their nights. It Was warm Weather at the time and we did spend evenings in the yard at times, it's dawned on me that I never noticed the bantoms in the evening, and wondered where they were. One evening I decided to follow them to see if I could find where they spent their nights. They went to a spot where they danced in a circle, right under a horizontal arm of a large tree, then one at a time they would jump/flap up to the tree arm, and sit there for the night. They would stay there in all types of weather, I never thought chickens would stay in a tree.

Chickens can be fun alright, hiding and at times hiding their eggs when free ranging.
