The Anthem Veterans Memorial, located in Anthem, Arizona, is a monument dedicated to honoring the service and sacrifice of the United States armed forces. The pillar provides a place of honor and reflection for veterans, their family and friends, and those who want to show their respects to those service men and women who have and continue to courageously serve the United States. Why are there so many Veterans homeless and struggling to live......Because our governments know how to command, order and take...... but do not seem to know how to give.
@Lois Winters I do try to believe that.... but sadly there still are those who fall through the cracks.
I agree with @Lois Winters . It may be different in other countries, but if a veteran is homeless in the USA, he/she would have no one to blame but themselves, most CHOOSE their lifestyle. Every resource imaginable is available to them. Some enjoy the 'tent cities' they set up in wooded areas. Local restaurants, such as Panera Bread, do bring them food. Their monthly checks are spent on what little they need, plus a good amount of liquor and drugs. They get free medical. They get free or reduced cell phone service. They get free bus passes. On holidays or bad weather, they go to a local shelter. The rest of the time, they probably live a more stress free life than most of us on this forum. I think we could do a much better job taking care of all the homeless people who are mentally handicapped. This is a national tragedy, vet or not.
