I sure hope they find a way to help you. I am waiting anxiously for some good news from you. My neurologist have given up doing anything for me besides giving me drugs that would make me numb and useless. I hope they can do something for you other than drugging you. Not being able to walk, is certainly something that warrants addressing.
Well, I spent an hour and 1/2 with my Dr. and more tests are needed, including an MRI. I had requested this some time ago, but no cigar. Now it will be done. Also, I must have an orthopedist rule out hip pathology, then on to pain management consult. All time-consuming and still on pain meds. Ugh.
Do you know if you're gonna get in to get this stuff (MRI, orthopedist, pain mgmt) done soon, Lois? It's infuriating for the patient to know what needs to be done, and the medical professional who should be taking the lead are impediments to timely care. These people seem to live between the extremes of unneeded tests and delayed care. I feel for you. I've had sciatica (as well as cervical disc fusing), so I know how debilitating this stuff can be. Physical therapy and gym time helped me a bit, and over time it dissipated. I hope they get you on a treatment path quickly.
@Thomas Stillhere - um maybe @Yvonne Smith needs to move your thread . This is about checking in on other members
I am home just go to town 2 times a week for PT I had a total new knee replacement as far as I know I am doing well. I needed to be in the hospital and it was my choosing to go. I have been shooting 1 time and fished 4 times since the surgery.
Welcome back, Tex! I'm glad this went well for you. My neighbor got a knee replacement. His old one was in gnarly shape (it was 90° offset.) His only remaining issue is that the scar tissue prevents his leg from being fully extended. They think they could go back in and clean it up...he's settled for "good enough." What stinks is that when he leaves a PT session, he's got full range of motion...but it tightens up again pretty quickly.
Wonderful Tex! I hope that new knee doesn't change your doing the things you love. The good thing is you are out of pain. Is mounting your horse more difficult?
I have not been on my horse since surgery but am driving trips under 1 hour tops, now I would be some concerned getting on my horse and staying on her. I just can't chance it yet.
I also agree! I misinterpreted what Tex said in his post #757. He said he had been shooting since his surgery and knowing he is a mounted shooter, I assumed he was riding. While I thought that sounded way to soon to be riding, I thought he is a tough Texan and keeping cowboys off their horses can be difficult.
Not me .. took to valium, music, and eye mask for me to even try an open MRI. Claustrophobic ,very much so.
I have never had a problem with an MRI; I just close my eyes before I'm rolled into the tunnel and keep them closed. The breast MRI is the weirdest; you have to lay face down with boobs in holes in the deck, then stretch your arms over your head like supergirl while some idiot is telling you "DON'T MOVE!!!" A real barrel of laughs.
