Two weeks until Christmas! Wow. This year has really blown by. We will be having family for Christmas Eve; some of the kids, grandkids, and my husband's sister and BIL. I need to decide what I will be ordering to serve for dinner...haha. Probably fajitas from the local Mexican place. I had some excitement yesterday. I had dropped my car off at the dealer a few days ago to have the HVAC part replaced which is time consuming since the dash has to be dismantled. A guy from Cadillac called and asked when I would be dropping my car off and said he was informed it was not at the dealer. Not in their service lot or a service bay. Um... WHAT? So I called the dealer myself and my service advisor was with another customer. I waited about an hour for her to call me back, freaking out. I finally checked the "MyCadillac" app and it showed the location of my car at the dealership, so either someone was too lazy to go look or some smart thief removed the tracking device. She finally called and apologized, saying she had "confused" my car with another customer. Good grief. My car is supposed to be complete by tomorrow so we'll see. I have a question about my bank account so I am currently "number 27" in the telephone queue at the bank. I'll just sit here listening to annoying music for a few hours. What the hell.
There needs to be an option: "Press 7 if you wish to hold silently." This especially applies if the music is distorted.
So I was on hold for one hour and 44 minutes. :hair pull: I told the young woman that I was not happy about that wait to ask a simple question. It used to be that you could press "O" and talk to the operator who could usually answer a quick question but now pressing O takes you back to the beginning of the "main menu." All these so-called improvements are such a step backward. "I have been banking there for over 40 years, blah blah." I'm officially old. If I had a cane I would wave it around.
Remember my beef here recently with Kansas gas company? Well guess what .. this time they claim never to have gotten my bill with check sent in the mail 14 days early!! So I had to pay online, again, in order to keep the gas on. Now mind you the other 3 pieces of mail reach there destination on time- just not Kansas gas. Literally males my BP climb ! plus they still deny their previous error to my account,
I'm exhausted. Had to get up early today for my 6-month checkup at MD Anderson which went very well. Hard to believe that it was 4 years ago that my cancer was diagnosed, but in some ways it seems like decades ago. I had a nice visit with my oncologist; he told me that everything looks good. We had a discussion about my shoulder/neck pain and possible solutions, and I will be meeting with a surgeon in the near future. When we got home I continued my "family is coming" prep. My son and his family will be here tomorrow, have Christmas, and go home on Sunday. Then I'll have Monday to wash sheets and towels and get ready for the horde that will arrive on Tuesday. I bought a ton of groceries and drinks, made a cheesecake, mopped floors, dusted furniture, washed throw rugs, put clean sheets on spare beds, wrapped gifts, etc. I think I'm ready but I'll have a few odds and ends to finish up in the morning. My grandson who joined the Marines a few months ago is home for the holidays. I'm so excited about seeing him; I want to hear everything. Of course I want to see all of the grandkids and meet a couple of new "girlfriends" who will come along. All these teenage love stories, doncha' know? Oldest daughter and SIL will not be coming after all. SIL's father is ill with cancer and has taken a turn for the worst. They don't expect him to live much longer and hospice has been called in. I don't know why this stuff has to happen at Christmas time... not that there's a "good" time I guess. Very sad. Youngest granddaughter is learning the saxophone and had her first band concert last week. Son said they did well but "sounded like a 6th grade orchestra", lol. Granddaughter's sax is almost bigger than she is. We got the new pool robot vacuum a few days ago and tested it yesterday. It is quite amazing actually; cleans much better than the old "suction-side" type cleaners that work on the pool pump. The new one is like a submarine Roomba... it maps the pool and vacuums all the stuff off the bottom, scrubs the sides of the pool to the water line, then turns itself off and "docks". What will they think of next?? I'm ready to take a bath and go to bed. I iz tired.
