@Beth Gallagher and others... can you not do or get something to help with pain? Clearly it is affecting you in wrong ways. However we all are guilty of complaining because we can not do what we once could. If you notice, ourselves are mostly the only ones whom even care that we are slower. I cuss like a sailor when getting into the truck and try to click into the seat belt. My damn hands just will not do that very well. The arthritis in hands and arms are bearable, but not very helpful in trying to the simplest of things at times. BTW , new doctor has cut my Lipator from 20 to 10 as that is causing the weakness and pain in my legs. In 2016 my cholesterol and trigl. ere 294- 256 , 294.. now 148, and trig. like 86. so it does help. I did tell nurse it was really the avocados eat now on regular basis .
My husband has had high cholesterol since he was in his 30’s. Over the years, he has taken every brand of cholesterol pill. The pills caused him so much leg pain, and body aches as well, he couldn’t function at his job. He said screw it! Let the chips fall where they may. He stopped taking those pills years ago. I have heard many people say that cholesterol pills caused them body aches and leg pain, and some people it doesn't bother at all.
I do fine on Lipitor. My doctor switched me to Crestor for some reason, and I immediately got shoulder pain. I went back on the Lipitor and the pain went away. But I still take COQ10.
Several years ago I was on Lipator 40 mg almost killed me with pain. Stopped taking it but after CHF and other issues doctor talked me into at 20. I will try 10 for few months if that does not help i may ditch that also. My hubby is on it also and he is beginning to ache and etc.
I can't speak for others, but nothing helps lymphedema or nerve pain. Actually, I've never gotten any relief from the degenerated disks with medication, either. I have to wonder whether having one breast has my body out of alignment, affecting my spine and those cervical disks. I notice that one of my shoulders seems higher than the other now unless I consciously "correct" them. Also, my kidney function has never recovered since chemo, so I hesitate to take any pain medication that might affect my kidneys. I will take Naproxen if I feel gout coming on; it's either that or use a hand saw to remove my foot.
Yup! We're there and got the t-shirt. I keep hoping the next supplement or gadget will fix things. Some do and some don't. And never enough.
Here is what my doctors say even the new one : Naproxen is very hard on kidney and stomach. If you have to take it always eat first , not to be taken on regular basis. So take with caution. I have a high tolerance for pain so rarely take anything , but take Aleve when I cant take it anymore. It is possible i guess for lack of a breast to cause a mis alignment. Ask your doctor.
Yes, I've been taking Naproxen for several years, though not often. I had a bottle from 2017 that I was still taking occasionally. It's the only thing that will stop a gout attack. My surgeon told me I'd probably have a slight "alignment problem" after the mastectomy; many women do. Sometimes it's simply a posture thing, trying to hunch over to conceal the fact that something is missing. The only thing keeping me from having the propylactic surgery is my terror of having lymphedema in both arms.
Trust me girl, I have tried everything and been to many specialist. My problem is I have too many things that have gone haywire. A med good for one problem only exasperates another. The latest meds trying to fix GERD are conflicting with other issues so back to the docs next week to regroup and discuss changes or perhaps just living with it until I choke to death. I have tried numerous natural things and naturalist doctors and all they do is cost money. As I age I am becoming more anti natural doctors and more pro specialist. The best relief I have found is my anti viral med, vitamins, self hypnosis, walking, early morning workout, keeping my electrolytes balanced, and comedy. Trying to reduce stress helps.
Exactly right. Which is where gardening comes into play for me (and Yvonne!). So it's kind of a frustrating circle... try to garden for stress relief>> too much pain, weakness, etc.>> get frustrated and sad which is stressful.
Yep, it is a vicious circle at our age with multiple problems. This is why I am doing the high pot veggie gardening so I don't bend down much but can enjoy gardening and watching my patio garden grow out my back door. I am thinking maybe next year getting a couple of the 2' X 8' four foot high ones that Vermont place sells and growing watermelons, potatoes, garlic, zucchini, etc. I can imagine having one boob of size would really cause neck, shoulder, and back pain especially at our age.
Instead of having a second mastectomy, have you considered a reconstruction with an implant on the missing side? A former co-worker's wife had similar problems to yours and she had a breast reconstruction and even had a new nipple tattooed on. It provided balance and made her clothes fit better.
No way... I have no interest in a reconstruction. I don't want any implant or any other "foreign object" in my body, and I don't like the other methods of harvesting body fat to use to reconstruct. I just want to never wear a bra again. If I were a young woman I might feel differently, but not now.
My son and his family are coming to visit for the weekend!! I'm beyond excited and they should be here any minute. I get to spend time with my beautiful granddaughters!!
I am having a bit of guilt here. For the first time, in a long time, I feel pretty good. I don't know why. I had chili for breakfast but not sure that has medicinal properties. I brought a friend out to shovel gravel for me while I cleaned winter out of my barn. Interesting use of broom and shovel and cane but it worked as did I. Hope it carries over to tomorrow.
