This is far fetched but maybe these unexplained sights and sounds are somewhere in our brain that isn't very active and only rarely slips through. Like people who have mental illnesses and see and hear things. There might be another part in our brains that does similar things but it's rare and not really discovered yet. So much of the brain is really used and known about.
There were a couple of them in residence in a reputed haunted house in Bloomington Indiana, back when I was a teenager, and into that stuff. Here's some research on it I did: http://www.shadowpeople.org/ https://pararational.com/types-of-shadow-people/ https://www.ranker.com/list/what-are-shadow-people/brandon-michaels https://tinyurl.com/y7cyyn2l
I believe the Djinn pre-date Islam by millennia. They are akin to the Greek gods, Mithra, Zoroaster, and the rest.
Not sure if this fits into the thread discussion, but this reminded me of a great short story by Ray Bradbury " The Crowd ". Worth the read if you get a chance. ( as is just about anything Mr. Bradbury wrote... )
So far as I know, Djinn were connected to the pre-Islamic indigenous religions of the Middle East, which Islam exterminated.
Although some think the Shadow People are djinn, I am not convinced. I think a much more plausible theory is one I read years ago, that earthbound spirits which tarry too long in the physical realm begin to warp, and change into the classical definition of 'evil spirits', and that is what Shadow People are.
I have a book that suggests that pretty much all of the cryptozoological creatures are actually djinn, who like to assume other shapes. I you can give credence to the idea of cryptozoology, then the book made a pretty good argument.
I think the Shadow people are more likely the product of semi-lucid dreams or alternatively Shadow-walkers. The former may simply be projections of a sem-lucid subconscious that doesn't fully realise it is dreaming. The latter are shamen who use their dreams to enter the dreams of others and leach psychic energy from the sleeper. Shadow-walkers are known to the indigenous American Indians and seen as servants of the Adversary. Robert Moss has written a very interesting book called - The Dreamways Of The Iriquois , which provides some insight on the subject.
LOLOL... wow I think you all must of inhaled, on some really wacky stuff years ago. Then again, perhaps you did not inhale deep enough
Not everyone does, of course, but if we can believe in God, in angels, and in demons, then I don't see a belief in djinn as being so far off the wall, particularly when you consider, as some do, that this may simply be another way of referring to demons.
All this sounds a bit like Lucifer, the fallen angel, and his demons whose mission to win the souls of men. Maybe the Muslums have just fleshed out their story a little more and better.
I have not put a lot of effort into study of the Djinn, but from what little I do know, I would surmise they are mainly confined to the Middle East and Africa. Several books suggests they are unable to cross water (one source says only moving water, another says any water.). I suppose there might be some workaround to that (stowaway on a cargo ship? take possession of a sailors body?), but even so, I would doubt there is enough migration to account for all the cryptid sightings in America and Europe, let alone worldwide. Anyway, here's some links for your Djinn thread. On second thought, I don't know how to get links into that page, so here they are: http://cryptidz.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_Jinn_Types http://www.pitlanemagazine.com/cultures/the-history-of-djinn-folklore.html http://www.ibtauris.com/Highlights/L/Legends-of-the-Fire-Spirits
I had no idea what djinn was - so looked it up. I do not see the correlation between an islamic demon and Christianity. I certainly do not want to tread on anyones beliefs...but if you think your being visted by um shadow people or whatever name you chose....I would consider that a very bad omen. I would be running in opposite direction and praying like never before. No offense to anyone of course.
