@Yvonne Smith According to Missouri Conservation, no record exists of a copperhead bite causing human death. Does not mean, however, that no human ever expired thusly. It appears there may be some truth to the story of goats' resistance to venom: "Biochemical and hematological study of goats envenomed with natural and 60Co-irradiated bothropic venom" "The main objective was to study, comparatively, clinical and laboratory aspects of goats inoculated with bothropic (Bothrops jararaca) venom, natural and irradiated from a 60Co source." CONCLUSIONS "Under the conditions of the present experiment, intramuscular inoculation of natural or irradiated venom was similar to natural envenomation. Edema, hotness, pain and redness were observed at the inoculation site, but external hemorrhage and necrosis did not occur." Yes, well, I surely did have all of those symptoms, and to excess, @Frank Sanoica . Did I mention that I am a Capricorn ? Maybe that has something to do with my survival.
Glad your kitty is well now. Shannon never really ate much dry food, so her diet hasn't changed much. I don't recall the name of the disorder she had/has, but it sounded different, although there are often different names for the same thing. I didn't notice an odor, though. Her disposition has definitely improved. She's back to hiding a lot, but comes out a lot more frequently, seeking attention/loving. I got some Nutri-Cal that I'm giving to Kelly and Ryan. It's malt flavored, and Shannon doesn't seem to care much for it, although I'd really like her to eat it, since she's the oldest. It's got a lot of vitamins and is made in Canada. Drs Foster & Smith have it on sale right now, so I just bought 2 more. They're about half the price of the regular cost, and I would have bought more if I could have, since Kelly loves it and Ryan seems at least intrigued.
