Now that is scary, Tony. My son had an encounter two years ago that ended up final for the cat. He hated it having to do it but I was sure thankful my boy could defend himself.
Daughter's boyfriend works in shipping. 'Empty' containers come up from the south and occassionally he finds black widow spiders while cleaning them. He has taken them home! It takes all kinds.
When I was younger, I hiked every weekend & always had a gun with me but I considered it protection from people. Any animals I encountered were friendly (luckily). Some friends would say, "Why do you need a gun when you're hiking?"
