Jenna when we first moved to North Florida we had all kind's of wildlife, even once saw a Florida Panther, now all of them except birds are gone or few in numbers, never see anything on trail walks but deer. No fox, coyote or bear. I hear some are seeing Boa snakes, we even saw one a couple decades ago. Not sure they will last long ,since all their prey is gone now.
Wow. Is this from loss of habitat, simple human encroachment and animal control, competing with invasive species introduction, or something else?
They sure did, ruined Florida's paradise, "may the bird of paradise fly up their nose". Do far we are down to snakes and gators, just like the OutHouse. Where are all the hippy freak environmentalist now?
I have watched Swamp People catching non- endemic snakes for bounty the buyers harvest meat and skins. I've also see the tegus, and other invasive reptiles that have become dangers to humans down there.
Well it feels as if that was really a lot of "karening." And in an age where the world is now their back yard nothing remains but lip-service as they pave and gentrify the planet to their desires. Anyone remember this pre-Star Wars super-low budget small story? I imagine those aging hippies were the ones back on Earth who wiped everything out. Just a few people of varying levels of commitment got the money together for a salvage and preservation operation for the few forest remnants remaining. As the money ran out and the need for a PR stunt to distract the rabble faded, even those last remnants were nuclear-destructed. The story probably didn't intend it, but looking back you can see Freeman Lowell as cut from true a libertarian cloth. Considering his name, perhaps the story was more intentionally, wisely, prophetic than audiences at the time suspected. Again, a small story. But within it far more depth than the more fun Star Wars kiddy flick.
Here's a lady with a False Water Cobra. They love each other. For those unfamiliar with this species, a False Water Cobra does have fangs and is venomous, but (unlike a genuine Cobra), the venom is mild - strong enough to kill their prey, but like a bee sting to humans - some swelling & pain. And, like any snake, will only bite when they feel threatened & when handled gently, very unlikely to bite.
Another idiotic pastor. He refused treatment until it was too late: (Snake Bite at 10:33) And this one also died - he didn't learn after losing a finger from a previous bite.
