Bob Nolan of the "Sons of the Pioneers" also wrote "Cool Water" in addition to "Tumbling Tumbleweeds".

Roy Rogers (Leonard Slye) also sang with the SOTP occasionally.

    Those were classic country songs!

A fellow senior has turned me onto pages and threads like these. He thought folks might be interested in some of our work, which includes this chestnut from 1957, here reworked by my band, long-time Austin institution, Greezy Wheels. We hope it is not inappropriate to post it here.

    Anything Goes (1934)
    Cole Porter

"Many of the original lyrics included humorous references to figures of scandal and gossip from Depression-era high society."

    Some forgotten lyrics

    [Verse 2]
When Missus Ned McLean (God bless her)
Can get Russian reds to "yes" her
    Then I suppose
    Anything goes
    When Rockefeller still can hoard
Enough money to let Max Gordon
    Produce his shows
    Anything goes

    [Bridge 2]
If driving fast cars you like
    If low bars you like
    If old hymns you like
    If bare limbs you like
    If Mae West you like
    Or me undressed you like
    Why, nobody will oppose

When ev'ry night the set that's smart is
    Intruding at nudist parties
    In studios
    Anything goes

    [Verse 3]
When Sam Goldwyn can with great conviction
    Instruct Anna Sten in diction
    Then Anna shows
    Anything goes
When you hear that Lady Mendl standing up
Now does a handspring landing up
    On her toes
    Anything goes

    [Outtro]
Just think of those shocks you've got
    And those knocks you've got
    And those blues you've got
    From those news you've got
    And those pains you've got
    (If any brains you've got)
    From those little radios

So Missus R., with all her trimmings
    Can broadcast abed from Simmons
    Cause Franklin knows
    Anything goes

Can you please make a recording for us? :)

Ethel Merman owns No Business Like Show Business.

I listened to many versions of this song, and she came in 3rd. After Ella Fitzgerald. I always liked this song.

We dance to allot of beautiful older tunes, with (very little vocal)
The music is sequenced as the ballroom dancing we do is NOT freestyle each dance has a name and a set of steps it’s called New Vogue ballroom
    Or old time Waltz’s.
I will sing along with a tune while dancing however hubby wouldn’t have a clue what the words are to 99% of the music so ..he will say to me …..dose that tune have words.

We are not religious ..however some church hymns that are recorded especially for dancing and NOT what I call mournful
music make some of the best dance tunes my favourite is silent night
