We would be in bad trouble should someone decide to ban it. We even have special stuff that is specifically made for Alaska's lower temperatures.
I'd imagine there's a less-effective "non-polluting" substitute all lined up...just as was done with freon.
All human activity is detrimental to the environment. The solution of course is for us all to kill ourselves.
My Subaru has a gasoline vapor cannister which will occasionally turn on in the garage with the engine off. Just pipe the damned windshield washer fluid fumes to said vapor cannister and quit making a fuss dammit!
