You could take the stray cats for a ride in the Rambler. :D

Sometimes I've even turned off the main breaker so I don't have to listen to the refrigerator running or the water heater making its little clunking sounds. I can only let this go for a while because of the food thawing but for an hour or two I have a peaceful house.

Stray Cats the band? Yes, I've done that although it wasn't a Rambler, just my old pickup. They had many good drugs.

Nope, not a command ......... but if he doesn't name him Smoky, I'm going to lie on the floor kick and scream and hold my breath until my face turns blue!!!!

C'mon on, Ken. You know you want to. Go ahead and do it. You'll feel better afterward. :p

I deleted my off-topic post. We had (4) Ramblers that I recall and (3) Metropolitans.

    Now back on topic:

And "stray" only means we do not have a home by your standards.
The world is our home...as long as we have gas. And friends to operate the pedals.

I went into a mild trance and sensed that Ken needed more kitties.

( I didn't need to go into a trance to feel that. I just like going into trances. )

To cleanse our palate from that diversion...I may have already posted that I've had a couple of cats here on my property off & on since I moved here in 2010 (only one at a time.) I am certain they are feral. They run like the wind at the sight and sound of me. And I'm not in a highly populated area.

I've never had a dog or a cat run from me like that. It's kinda hurtful...

Stray cats have a very sensitive sense of smell. See how nicely I got us back on topic? :)

John left himself way open with that one and I refrained from my comment - ( something vague about maybe John looks a little like a dog and that scares the cats ) but I'm glad someone else took a shot.

    Let's all pile on. :)

I have one exclusively inside cat and two exclusively outside cats. I'm not sure the litter box issue can be solved the way you're expecting because, in my experience, cats want to go when they want to and may not want to wait until you let them out, especially if it they have to wait through one of your sleep times. I'm not sure about this, though.

Re the other question, you can't really protect an outside cat from danger. Cars, dogs, and mean kids are a constant worry for me for my outside two. Right now I haven't seen one of them for two days and I'm real concerned.

After I left some food out this morning, the gray cat, who was and usually is now waiting for me under my Tracker, walked right past me to get to the food bowl, within a foot of my legs. Not entirely assured, he did a few quick steps as he was passing me but he's not waiting around for me to leave anymore. I brought an extra bowl of food out for the black one later in the afternoon because he was sitting around watching me work. He wouldn't go to it until I was halfway across the lawn from the bowl, though. I'm leaving them water now too, because I'm not sure where they go for that. There is a lake a couple of blocks away, which they can get to by walking the tracks, so that might be it. I set a camera on the water bowl, which is in a different place and I can see that they use it often so, wherever they were going for water before, they prefer it here.

You've got yourself another cat, sounds like, whether you wanted or not. They're the ones who make the important decisions.
It was slow going to get my two outside cats to tolerate my presence. Around them I walked slowly and never directly towards them. I made no sudden moves and talked quietly to them. If people were as distrusting of each other we'd not have any more babies born. Greyman did his first blinky eyes to me yesterday.
