    Street murals are becoming popular here. And from the looks of it, vandalism is on the wane. We have a friend who not only paints walls but also teaches children how to paint murals. Before embarking on the project, he will seek a permit. It's a wonderful scene when young people are doing the mural like a team. And after the painting session, sponsors would serve refreshments. It's actually a community event.

    @Honey Gee
    OK, I'll "unrant", given the point you make with the pretty artwork. A strange sort of psychology has been found to exist among common gang-linked tagging. Most of what they do consists of unintelligible weird-looking scrawl, sometimes resembling alphabet, sometimes not even that. However, it was found that unless knowledge exists of some particular tagging's "ownership", taggers actually respect work done by non-competing gang members, and will not molest or write-over paintings done by others, such as that you showed above. Knowing that, some property owners have hired very talented individuals to do mural-like work on their property. We've seen that done in Phoenix fairly often.

    OTOH, I find it particularly unacceptable to find the use of diamond-pointed tools having been used to inscribe tagging on glass mirrors, porcelain toilet-bowl rims, and even ceramic tiled walls, in restrooms. One Interstate rest-stop we've frequented installed highly-buffed and shiny stainless steel for mirrors, instead of glass. Those were scribed-up, as well.

    "Unrant" over. Frank
