My baby sister is just tapering down now. They thought she had autoimmune hepatitis but it doesn't seem to be the case thank goodness but her bloodwork indicates she still needs the prednisone but not at the dose she was on.

    It's even difficult tapering down.

They never figured out what she had but that it was just a freak perfect storm after she had mono. Just glad it's not the autoimmune hep.

Found out that Prednisone is used for many things. Can't remember what my daily dosage was, but was for 7 days and I stopped after 5 days. At that time, I knew something had happened to my eyesight. I got a fast appointment with my eye doctor. Told him about being on Prednisone and that after 5 days I had stopped it due to my eyesight and he done another eye exam on me. He told me about the affect it has on blood sugar/glucose......makes it very high, which it had done to me. Financially, couldn't afford another set of new lenses, so will have to wait until next year.

@Holly Saunders, did this medicine affect your eyesight at all?

My wife used Coppertone 50 for the first time last Saturday, while on our boat. My forehead got a little pink, but her's didn't. Maybe she used more than I did.
She did tell me that the 50 made her skin feel softer, so she will continue using the 50 and I will go back to the 30. I just don't think I'm putting enough on and not often enough.

My sister never had any complaints about her eyesight either @Cody Fousnaugh .

She did say it made her ravenous hungry at night. Tapering off she feels tired mostly.

I never use any kind of sunscreen either, and both Bobby and I spend time in the sunshine for the extra vitamin D and getting a suntan. I have been out in the sun all of my life and never used any kind of a sunscreen. I do try to be careful not to get a sunburn, though. I usually don't go out when the sun is directly overhead, and I go back inside when I start turning pink or feel my skin starting to burn.

This is why I say that some don't need sunscreen, while others, like wife and I, definitely do.

I really hate to see what we'd look like without sunscreen and out in our boat on the water or even working/cleaning the boat off of the water. We'd be cooked and in the ER.

My mom tanned nicely and never got sunburned but she still ended up with some skin cancer in her 70's. That's not what killed her though. She did use sunscreen after that though.

I think @Lon Tanner has had a few cancerous skin lesions removed ..he's mentioned it here or the other forum.

15 minutes of sun in the Southern Hemisphere (Australia/New Zealand is like one hour of California sun.
