I am sure that there are a lot of people who live their whole lives , and live to a ripe old age, and do not need or want to take supplements, @Chrissy Page . I know that @Corie Henson has also said that she and her husband do not believe in taking supplements.
I think that this , like the rest of our diet, is something that each person has to decide for themselves, and using their own current and previous health as their guide.
Eating fresh whole foods is an important part of staying healthy, and sometimes that and plenty of exercise and mental stimulation is all that a person needs to live a long and happy life.
As long as a person is not having problems with pain, depression, thyroid, or any other health problems that can be caused by a lack of proper nutrition, then I see no need to take extra supplements just to be taking them, either.
But when there is a physical problem, often correcting nutrition can also correct the condition.
Doctors are warning us that many of the health conditions we suffer from, such as high blood pressure, cholesterol, thyroid, diabetes, liver problems, heart problems, and many other chronic pain issues can be mitigated, or stopped completely, by the addition of supplements and changing our diets to exclude inflammatory foods which cause swelling and pain.

It's all up to the individual I believe. It's not that I don't believe in taking them or not. I do take D because I was told to by my dr.

I believe in changing your diet if you have problems and I eat healthy enough and besides back pain I don't have
High BP or high cholesterol etc. also not diabetic. So for now I don't feel the need for supplements.

I forgot to say that my husband has a friend who is connected in networking supplements. It is vegetable coffee that we receive a sample from time to time. Yesterday that friend gave my husband another box of vegetable coffee. But we never tried it. We give away those complimentary boxes to our laundry woman who drinks that coffee not for the supposed health benefits but just because it is free.

And I believe more in what @Chrissy Page said that we can change our diet and maybe even our lifestyle to suit our present health condition.

Because I have two Auto Immune Diseases I make sure I eat foods that have anti-inflammatory properties. In addition, I take supplemental Vitamin D, Alpha Lopic Acid, Tumeric, Magnesium. I love foods with various curries and curry has turmeric.

Calcium, Vitamin D and Fish Oil, at the recommendation of my doctor, as well as grape seed. I don't remember why I am taking that but I figured I may as well finish the bottle since there doesn't seem to be any reason not to.

I don't either. The people who come up with the recommended amount of this and that often don't even agree. Sometimes, I think it's more marketing than benefit, but maybe not.

Yes I take 1 Multivitamin , and 1 Biotin pill every day!!... I have turmeric capsules but I have a hiatus hernia, and it wasn't until after I bought them that I discovered that the HH and turmeric don't like each other so I don't take them..

The Biotin is to strengthen my nails and hair..

Hiatal Hernia if small is often left alone, I've heard. My sister had one for years before smoking took her life. Didn't know Turmeric was a no-no. I take it nearly every day, with all my vegetables; so far, seems OK.

I'm supposed to take Calcium, D, and B-12, as per previous blood tests, but I usually forget. Didn't take any prior to last test and Dr. said everything was fine this time. Maybe it was the relatively low carb diet for the last 3 months. Suppose?

    @Nancy Hart
Being the skeptic that I am, I think, THINK, the human body when working normally processes everything to provide proper levels of the needed nutrients regardless of what is consumed, within reason, of course. Just too many folks are always consuming too much carbs and sugars, are obese, and live relatively symptom free. Question is, how long? When we lived outside Phoenix, we were only a few blocks away from the border of the Gila River Indian Nation. Those folks were as nearly uniformly obese, regardless of age, of any group I've seen. Yet they led rather normal lives. Their life expectancies, not sure of.

I’ve always only taken D because I needed it but after this summer of losing weight and not eating right I have to take a prescription Potassium...was 2 a day but my last bloodwork was normal so he said just take one for awhile.

I have a lab today so will see if I need to take it any longer.

I also take a probiotic pill, especially when I was on antibiotic after Pickles bit me.

Last visit to dr I asked if I should be taking a multivitamin for seniors since I’m still probably not eating right...she said yes and her favorite are the gummy ones.

I bought those and I hope I can control myself and only take the two a day recommended ....they’re yummy!!

Grape Seed Extract, going on 25 yrs. Vit C many years.
    Magnesium, D3/K2
Fish oil on and off, Krill oil same thing on and off
    Lutein for Eye Health
Potassium (no way do we get the daily RDA on potassium)
    B vitamins
    Probiotics
    Supports for OA management.
and others but these are main ones.

Off taking a multi these days but have taken them for years, no gummies.

I take hardly any drugs and live a healthy life, no colds, flus, sore throats etc...and NO VACCINES.

Supplements to me are what our poor quality foods are not doing...and our foods are poor today. And to get everything we need, gotta eat lbs of foods and not me. I deal with OA which hit me starting at 18 and I've worked with it for over 60 yrs but I don't consider myself sick...I've had colds many yrs ago but not in many yrs and same with flu. I do a lot of research to address issues that I believe I can help with this aging life. I started the supplements mostly after menopause and I was in my early 50's...
