@Joy Martin I've been reading about grape seed extract and a consistent caution seems to be possible [unspecified] interaction with pain relievers: aspirin, naproxen and ibuprofen. Have you experienced this?

So I ordered some NAC and grape seed extract and discovered that NOW has a version of GSE that has 325mg of Vit C in it. Just about everything I've read says to not take GSE and Vit C together because the combo can cause high blood pressure, especially if you are already on meds in order to lower it. So I cancelled the NOW and replaced it with Puritan's Pride, then I discovered that there are versions of NOW that do not contain Vit C. Just though I'd throw that out there.

I see there is a large clinic in Portland and one in Cumberland Foreside, wherever that is. There may be others.

gse reduces (or can reduce) the need of drugs tremendously.
It has no negative side effects when used with natural/friendly digestive enzymes, only healing and strengthening effects for a person's health.

I don't know whether I made a spelling mistake when I first looked but in order to find places you said existed I redid search and found 1 in my town(which I've eleiminated because of things on their website) and one in Portland which looks very promising

Alpha Lipoic Acid. I took it for burning mouth syndrome that was diagnosed after root canal. It was the only thing that helped. When I had my annual bloodwork, my numbers were all down- especially lipids. Google it to see some of the advantages.

I started taking ALA based on recommendations here. I was fine with it for a while but it started giving me heartburn (which is a known side effect.)

I took and sometimes take some nutrients needed to
    avoid any future root canal.
It is amazing how simple it is - yes, internet search to see some of the advantages.

It's strange. The only other supplements I've had issue with are years ago when I was taking niacin as a statin & always got The Flush real bad, and the 50mg zinc I got at Walmart that made me nauseous.

Maybe my system's getting finicky as I get older. I'd been taking a baby aspirin since my supposed TIA in Jan of 2020 with no issues, then a couple of months ago it started messing with my stomach. Once I stopped taking the aspirin, my stomach issues went away. And I know the ALC was the heartburn cause because there was nothing else I was taking at that time of day that could have caused it...and stopping it cleared things right up.

Kinda sucks. I've never had this problem before. I will admit that my eating habits are not the best (I'll often eat dinner at 11PM), so maybe if I got back on a decent schedule I might try taking it again.

I have taken 81 mg enteric coated aspirin since I was about 40 years old. My family has a history of blood clots.

The niacin flush should go away as your body builds a tolerance. Sorry yours didn't. Most supplements should be taken with a meal except amino acids. Maybe that would help if you didn't already try that. Alpha lipoic acid is a fatty acid. Zinc causes lots of problems in people, but you could try a different form if you wish to take it. I think I got picolinate for my wife when she had troubles with it. She has trouble with many things, while I have trouble with very few.

If the flush does not occur, it means the amount is low enough not to cause a flush , which may mean the desired effects are not being accomplished,
or the niacin was 'fixed' to not cause a flush, which would mean it cannot do what it is supposed to do.

i.e. for the historical and desired effects to be reached, the standard usual if not always flush must occur to some degree.

That chart I found says thee 50mg zinc gluconate pills I was taking should have 7mg elemental (@ 14%), but the bottle is silent on it. I cut them in half and was fine with one per day. I've since switched to a 60 mg orotate that contains 10mg elemental and take 2 a day. So far (2 weeks) I've been fine with them.

I used to take the ALA about a half hour after eating dinner, but I eat sometimes after 11PM. Maybe taking it so late at night was the issue. I have not tried different times of day. Somewhere I read that antioxidents should not be taken with calcium (I take calcium in the morning), so I may try taking it with my after-lunch pills. Trying to juggle the "Do not take togethers" can sometimes be a challenge when you take a variety of things.

Your body builds a tolerance to niacin just as it does to all things. You simply start with a low dose and when that no longer causes the flush, up the dose if desired. Do not deal with the no-flush niacin, as it is not effective and in some cases can be harmful.
