Ants attracted to the bait is a GOOD thing, @Frank Sanoica if the bait is working. It can take up to 2 weeks to kill off the nest with effective bait. We don't have real ant problems here, but I just visited my son in Indiana, who had terrible ant issues in a new house he just bought. He had tried other baits and the ants just kept coming, but I suggested using Terro ant bait, and his ants were gone in 4 days, although the traffic increased dramatically the first two days then tapered off to nothing. I have not experience with Pharaoh ants, but I have addressed others, including Fire ants. Fire ant baits usually involve a hormone that prevents ant larva from maturing, and the colony dies out. If the ant traffic to the bait is an issue, use the baits that are designed to be used outside. Usually they are stakes that are driven or pushed into the ground near you dwelling. Some of these are replaceable and some are not. If you have no pets or children around, you can make you own bait using sugar and boric acid in solution, or boric acid mixed well in peanut butter for fat/protein-eating ants. I believe you can get the concentrations online.
