We spent a few hours on the metro in Moscow specifically to look at the artwork. It's an extraordinary mix of Imperialist bling and Soviet 'realism' but for the price of a single ticket, it represents great value.
Another one we visited...I've got some photos somewhere. Kyiv also has an extraordinary park with all sorts of statues and a military museum, with tanks and other hardware dotted around. It's a truly bizarre experience walking around there as not only do you have all this stuff, you also get bombarded with Ukrainian folk music. Surreal, but interesting.
My first house in Hungary was very near that statue Park. It was kind of a strange place for the Park...kind of out of the way.
Just a quick word on the Trump theme. We also have a human foghorn with improbable blond hair who wants to be king. I don't know how many Americans are familiar with London Mayor Boris Johnson, but despite being a British toff, he was born in the States and as far as I'm concerned, you can have him back.
lol I guess people are more interested in Russia than my home town, also my partner Lisa lives there so it is sort of my home. I don't mind really, as it keeps my mind active looking up what I don't know. Unlike you Holly I don't work so lack the brain stimulus that you get from your job, so I have to generate my own
Sorry Chrissy I missed this one The video of the tearoom I opened is below, the reporting is actually incorrect as the fire occurred in the original tearoom I opened a few years previously in 1984. British Rail originally blamed me for the fire and sued me for over a $1,000,000 to cover rebuilding costs, but it turned out to be arson. I will try and find the other photo. Thanks Terry you're accent is very slight! Must have been pretty stressful though being sued even if you're not guilty.
I had insurance to cover it but a very helpful local police inspector called on me, and said he would make enquiries in the criminal underworld as he thought it was arson, and he caught the guy responsible within a few days.
How long did you have the tearoom? You also had a health food store and you still have some flats you rent? What did you enjoy the most? Notice I used the word flats instead of apartments? Lol
It was very complicated I was between relationships so was running it part time with my ex, while commuting to Wiltshire to be with Linda my new partner while we set up the Health Food shop plus another tearoom in Wiltshire called "A Patch of Blue" I enjoyed all the businesses for a while but was always moving on. I loved the therapy work most of all which was set up above the Health Food shop. The renting of flats came later in the late 1990s Yes I did notice you are learning the Queen's English slowly
