Where did I ever say that Martin doesn't have the right, and why don't you let Martin speak for himself? I don't believe Martin needs you to intervene. FOUR armed policemen, a man ALREADY in handcuffs on the pavement. NO EXCUSE for putting a knee on that man's neck for 8 damn minutes. None.
As a paramedic, I have had to deal with combative people who were drunk, on drugs, or just plain nuts, and I didn't have the option of handcuffing them, although we did strap them to a stretcher once we were able to get them there. Sometimes we called the police for assistance, but on some of these occasions, the police just made things worse with an escalation of hostilities. Some cops are excellent at verbal persuasion while others seem to enjoy relying on force. As with any other group of people, there are good ones, there are those who want to be good at what they do, but lack the expertise, and then there are those who are plain evil, and these probably became cops because they enjoyed pushing people around.
Why on earth would I have anything against farm and ranch folks??? That would be my family, FYI. And if you believe rural farm/ranch people don't wear athletic shoes and ball caps, you need to check your sources, buddy. "Hogwash" to you.
Here's another bulletin for you... you and your wife have absolutely no way of knowing what every single person at a rodeo (or any other event) is thinking or capable of doing. You only know what YOU are thinking.
Ok, Beth, Ken did say something like "stick to the subject". But, to answer you here, I was in, not a fan, but actually in rodeo for a number of years. I DO know what rodeo contestants and many fans wear and they sure don't look like those at those protests. Anyway, Ken had already warned me that I would get some criticism when I talk about "farm and/or ranch" of anything on the forum, but, sometimes I just can't resist. LOL
They wear their cowboy duds at the RODEO. They wear regular clothes in real life. And, I'm done with this conversation. (Much to everyone's relief. )
I definitely wouldn't go that far Ken. The Academy doesn't teach this, but offenders must be handled one way or another for apprehension. Many offenders can have a fairly long criminal record and will absolutely resist going back to jail or prison again. Big and muscular offenders have to be "taken into custody" someway. There have been offenders that have tried to get an officer's weapon out of the holster and shoot the officer. Just what will an officer do when a suspect is fighting them, aka "resisting arrest" for whatever reasons. Since I was an EMT as well, working in Compton, Watts, South Central & Los Angeles and Orange County, I've seen where/how officers have had to subdue a suspect for hitting their spouse. Had to take the spouse to the ER. Many suspects are very, very hard to cuff when they are extremely mad, on drugs or whatever.
Cody, Farm/Ranch people aren't some homogeneous group like you are trying to portray. Nor are they all straight, crew cut wearing, all American good guys either. Your idea of the rodeo nirvana of goodness is a fiction of your mind. Good God man, who do ya think inspired 85% of old time country music? Seen several Westerns featuring rodeos. Story line always involved faithlessness, drunkeness, violence and implied animal abuse.
Well, nobody on this forum, which is understandable, knows farm/ranch folks like I do. That is simple fact! Now, let's get off of the "off-topic" discussion now, like Ken requested.
Whoa Cody!! When you ask a question, how about allowing a little time for others to answer instead of jumping the gun and again, making assumptions. Now, have I tried to handcuff etc, etc? No. Have I fought with anyone 6th’+? Yes and moreover, someone on drugs and it isn’t fun at all but I still managed to put him down. There are a couple of x-cops here on this forum and as @Ken Anderson wrote, he has had to deal with large guys on PCP or some other strength and mood altering substance so your question is uh.....one with little or no thought.
BBBBBuuuuttttt.......you earlier wrote that you were an indoor guy and worked on computers and such..... Jeezzz.....make up your mind. But that said, you’re still making false statements based on your own errant assumptions. Ken and I believe Yvonne also brought up the subject of the officer and Floyd knowing each other. It’s important to note that I do not believe that Floyd needed to die but the question I have is through the two’s relationship, could it be possible that the officer knew how much force that Floyd could throw around should he not be heavily restrained? Maybe the officer was in truth afraid of the guy. Dunno. Just speculation.. Granted, there were 4 officers and Floyd could have simply been tased or his ankles restrained or whatever and didn’t need to have a knee on his throat.
You can say what you like about what happened at the scene of the murder and what took place was not right and the officer has been charged with second degree murder. The family of the George Floyd are pleading to stop the violence but this was all planned. None of this justifies the looting and murder of other people by the looters. Building burned to the ground. I see a man with a T shirt with Floyd picture on it hours after the crime. Bricks delivered to none construction sites but where a riot is going to take place. As a martial arts instructor I have had a knee across my neck many times and although it is not comfortable I am not dead either. The man death was used as a catalyst for all kinds of destruction by a few people. BLM was co-op by George Soros alone with antifa. Sad to say we are watching a movie and some are getting caught up in the plot.
