Because I've lived both, farm and inner-city. I was involved in professional rodeo, so I was around that as well. A number of "rodeo" type cowboys also work a family ranch. The "mind set" to me is just different. Ask Yvonne the difference. She was raised in Idaho and around horse and rodeo type folks.
I just read that one of the officers did ask the other officers to turn Floyd over onto his back. The officer that had his knee on Floyd's neck said, "No, he's fine". So, one of the officers did try to stop the "knee" thing. As I've already stated, regular patrol officers generally don't tell other regular patrol officers what to do. It's generally a Corporal or Sargent that does that at a scene. All officer's on a scene are suppose to cooperate with what each other are doing.
Sorry, the man was down and handcuffed, with several police officers standing over him. There was NO reason for that idiot to have his knee on the man's neck for over 8 damn minutes. Try to rationalize all you want; that man did not have to die that day.
There are just as many crazies in rural areas as in urban. Get over it. (I was raised on a farm but live in Houston, so don't give me that BS.)
You call that "trying to stop the knee thing????" Seriously. Yelling "get your damn knee off his neck" and physically intervening should have happened.
I don't know how, or if, it plays into it, but the cop and the guy he killed worked at the same security job, apparently overlapping shifts, so they worked together and knew each other.
I have this for you......."I don't think so!!!" Every time that wife and I go to a rodeo, absolutely none of those young folks would be in a big city protest. Like it or not, Beth, there is a difference and a big one! You must have something against farm and ranch young folks. Farm and ranch young kids have livestock and/or crops to take care of, unlike "big city" young folks. Farm and ranch families will most definitely say this, "keep that big city crap in the big city!"
Let's stick to the issues, please. Don't make assumptions about other people, particularly not when they are negative ones.
I have stated that cops don't physically, or any other way, stop another cop from doing something. Only a Corporal or Sargent would stop a regular cop from doing something bad, and then it can just depend on what the suspect is doing to make the officer/officers do to him/her what they do. Do any kind of "resisting" on an arrest and the officer/officers can/will put the cuffs on however they can. They are trained to do this in the Academy.
No "assumptions" made, Ken. I just haven't seen any cowboy hats, boots, John Deer baseball caps or anything else the would show a farm and/or ranch person in the protest. I like to hear from anyone on this forum who has seen someone from a farm/ranch area at a big city downtown protest.
And, face it Beth, Martin has his right to what he knows/has read-heard. The officer was wrong, I'll give that. But, has anyone on the is forum, including me, ever tried to handcuff a rather big 6'+ muscular man who didn't want to be handcuffed? I didn't think so.
