My personal connection with groundhog day, beside my living in W. Pennsylvania, is that my grandfather was born on February 2nd, 1888....on the second official groundhog day. I was 4 when he died in 1947, at the age of 59. I think of him with a smile on his birthday.
Here Feb. 2 was declared Marmot Day, as we don't have groundhogs here, but groundhogs are members of the Marmot family. It doesn't really matter, though, as we will have at least 6 more weeks of winter...and probably more.
