Taking naps is one of the best advantages of retirement. I'm a great napper.

After a meal or spending no more than 30 minutes on the computer I am consumed with a need for a nap. My typical nap lasts no more than 10 minutes and occasionally 15 minutes although both seem longer than that. I don't sleep well at night & do a lot of tossing & turning.

I have never been a napper; it seems to make me feel worse when I wake up. I do occasionally fall into a food-induced coma after eating a heavy dinner, but it's typically an unplanned event.

Depending on how we sleep on Friday and/or Saturday night, we may take a nap on Saturday or Sunday afternoon. My nap generally lasts for an hour, while my wife can easily nap for 2 hours.

Heck, the times we've been in Las Vegas, we've gone to our room at 2PM and took a nap. That way, we could have enough stamina to stay up until eleven. But, by eleven, in bed. Since we've been married, we've never been "night owls".

I generally have a lot to do but when I do not I am among the privileged retired lot and can nap whenever I wish and for however long that I wish.
After a hard workout or after a big meal I might kick back if I feel a case of the “want to’s” or maybe I’m just bored and wish to have some imaginary recreation in the form of a small dream, it’s all good.

I have worked hard and studied hard all my life thus far and now if I feel a good old fashioned lazy streak coming on, it’s time to kick back and turn on the vibrator connected to my easy chair and plot a course to la-la land.

I never napped as a younger person, but probably in the last 3 yrs I can doze off listening to my fav radio programs...laying on my bed just does it...short 10-15 min or so. I sleep good at night and even better since using HGH homeopathic gel in my skin now going into 5th month. I've been using a sleep remedy I made up now for 10 yrs or so. That magic 80 year mark.

I purposely put on some half boring youtube documentary everyday around 2. I may watch it and learn something or I might sleep thru it and not missed much. After years of working, this feels like a great luxury.

@Bess Barber, Welcome aboard MS Bess.

I often take a nap in the afternoon, an hour or two. Always feel better afterwards.

In Spain, a nap (Siesta) is mandatory, and is a national requirement in all walks of life.
