This cat urine parasite is the reason pregnant women are told to not change litter boxes.

Yes, it says that in the video. We always had cats when the kids were little, and I have no clue whether i changed the cat box or not, but most of our cats were indoor/outdoor, so maybe not.
It amazes me how a parasite can completely control and change the infected creature’s behavior .

Yup. Not only does it not kill the primary host, but it sets forth a sequence of events that ensures its survival. How does something microscopic seem to display intent???

Toxoplasmosis? I was unaware it was shed in urine. Stool is the usual issue I thought.

It is counterproductive to kill the host as it would also die. I don't think it INTENDS to live the life it does, but how the cycle originated, I have no idea.

Yup, that's the one the doc in the video was discussing.

Yeh, I agree, intentionality is not likely present in a microorganism. Any parasites that killed the host likely no longer exist, unless the corpse provided food for the next generation. But the cycle is fascinating.
