Sorry to hear this, Tony. I would make sure to document everything for the rental car company. They can't be totally blameless in this.

Went to see my urologist today, for my kidneys stone, and PSA level.
He prescribed Tamsulosin (Flomax) .4mg. This medication it's supposed to help you pass the stone. Told me to take it at night before bed because it can make you dizzy, and if I get a fever go immediately to the ER. This is too much excitement for me in one day. I am also scheduled to go for an x-ray today to determine the composition of the kidney stone. He didn't seem too concerned about my PSA because he felt the readings are not accurate when you have a UTI.
Internal exam showed my prostate is swollen.
Other than being tired a lot I haven't had many side effects from the kidney stone.

Slept most of the day, was under the weather, not sure what from. Tonight will be the first night I take my new prescription drug which is supposed to cause dizziness I hope not I don't need it right now or ever.
If the reading about some of our politicians being socialist and possibly hiding the fact that they may belong to a communist affiliated organization troubles me. As a minimum they should be vetted especially when you're running for top positions. I worked in the defense industry for about 40 years during that time depending on the program I was to work on, I had to apply for clearance, twice for secret, once the top secret. The process of getting that clearance took weeks, first you have to fill out an long application and then apply for it. In that application there was a listing of 20 to 30 as I recall communist affiliations that they questioned whether you were part of, or if any of your immediate family belong to. Any yes response, would automatically deny your request for clearance. These applications start from your childhood history all the way up to present day and includes things like Neighbors, other family members, any organizations you belong to, it was very thorough. The vetting process included talking to your neighbors, family, friends and lastly an interview with you.
Once I receive my clearance I had to take a lecture with the FBI explaining the trickery of spies from our adversaries to get information out of you.
Granted I was being reviewed to this level because I was going to be working on classified programs. I am not sure if they are, but I do feel Federal government officials should have to be vetted to some degree also, especially the ones that may have to deal with classified information.

Don't worry about the Flomax. I was on it for a while. I never had any side effects.

Regarding clearances and politicians...I've often wondered if the clearance doesn't just come with the position. I've never heard of a politician not being privy to information or being denied a position on a committee because they could not pass a background check. Frankly, I believe the vast majority of the are highly compromised (just ask J. Edgar)

I just got to this thread. @Tony Page I hope everything works out well for your daughter. I think it is unlikely that she would get HIV or hepatitis from a small stick form a lancet, especially if it bled a bit, but not impossible of course. As far as the tomato sauce goes, we use two different strainers:

    or

Either one works fine, but for small amounts, the first one is probably easier.

It was an ordeal for my daughter On that day. At the ER They gave her The hepatitis vaccine, and some antiviral medicine. They check her blood, the results we're normal. Her Doctor prescribed a medication for the HIV. As luck would have it The pharmacy we use (CVS) Did not have the medication in stock. It was a medication that she had to start taking within 72 hours Of the incident. Fortunately the pharmacy did a search and did find the medication in another store not to far away.
We used to have a strainer like the lower picture, we're hoping it's in one of the storage boxes we didn't open. If not my wife wants to get another one.

I had a Squeez-o that looked very similar to this top picture. It was all metal. I used the heck out of it for many years. It was great for extracting seeds and juice. I made all kinds of tomato juices and jellies; v-8 juice, plain tomato juice, yellow tomato juice, blackberry, dewberry, strawberry, and raspberry jellies. I had it for probably 40 years. I gave it away last Spring, as I don’t can anymore.

Today my grandkids go back to school, summer break is over. A lot of scurrying around the house as they prepare to get ready for the school bus. My daughter works for the school so her and the grandkids will be out of the house till about 3:00 this afternoon, house will be unusually quiet, until next summer break.
I lost a large collection of books because of the fire. Most of my books were nonfiction or reference books. When I was into gardening, and mini farming, I read constantly about gardening methods, how to grow various flowers, vegetables etc.
I've tried various methods of mulch from hay, straw bale gardening, I even tried callboard. Of all the gardening books I had there's one that keeps popping up in my head called "Grow It", I purchased it back in the '70s it was how to run a self-sustaining Farm. I remember really enjoy reading through it, it was something that I always wanted to do have my own Farm where I didn't have to rely on the outside world. Maybe in my next life.

That's interesting that your school district still runs on a Labor Day-to-Early June schedule, like I bet all of us grew up with. At some point, most (all?) of my state went to an August-to-May schedule. I forget what the rationale was.
