May I suggest 3 selling points @Jake Smith. 1. It’s cheaper than fixing the old one. 2. You’ll get things done faster if you don’t have to keep replacing old parts. 2. You’ll let Marie drive it to the church house on Sunday.
Beth so does my kids which I knew what they would say. He does deserve one, just being in debt is my concern. Looks like he is winning the vote all the way around, He has always wanted a tractor. He sees the men here up and down the dirt road riding theirs and says, 'that's what I need'. Looks like we will look at it tomorrow.
r The old one was a 1950 Massy Ferguson it was a 6 cylinder, paid $250. sold it in 2001 for $1000. He never got to use it he broke his back a couple months later.
I hope y'all can get the tractor, but I totally understand about the debt thing. You guys know better than any of us what makes sense for you.
You're right, Beth; and new tractors are like buying a home. This one is a one owner 1998 with 1224 hours on it. The guy told me he knows the man who owned it, and was only one ever drove it, except him now. Said the old man kept inside his building and there's not a scratch or dent on it. He said it needs nothing, and runs out perfect, has the best bush hog he ever used. He said he cut some around his house with it, and he was amazed how great it cuts. The price is nothing like a new one either.
Well "guess what"; we set a meeting with guy for 12 pm, I'm gonna ride it, and then place deposit. Thank all of you for your vote.
I do hope it is to your liking Jake. I’m sure Marie is already dreaming about creating her own parking space when Sunday-to-go-to-meetin’ time comes up at the church house. Unless of course one of the other ladies is driving one of those $100K tractors to church then she might have to make an allowance for that.
Went to the guys house, with the tractor, "yesterday", and made a deposit, so I have two weeks to bite the bullet, and finish paying for it. Here we are two photos of us on it; and I took it for a spin, and I tried everything on it, and even the bush hog; "works great". Also getting an old box blade for it.
I Always buy used and have not regretted it. The renters get the less good tractor to use as often they destroy stuff. Your tractor sounds like a great find!
I bought a used box blade a couple of years ago. It's a very handy attachment to have for all sorts of uses.
I could not maintain this property without it. My neighbors are also glad I have it, especially in maintaining our right-of-way.
