Although I have discovered that many small tractors, namely JD, Kubota, and Case almost retain their value, IOW, you can sell the gently-used ones for about what you paid for them since the prices have gone up so much. Not so for the attachments and implements however.

I just returned from a tractor chore. My wife noticed a tree down on a fence on the opposite corner of the property (from the house) when she left for church this morning and called on her phone. I promised I would look into it while she was gone. I got the tractor out and put the bolt-on pallet forks on to head out. Fortunately, there was little damage to the fence. Only one board on the gate was off, and thankfully the snow is mostly gone (only about 6 inches left on the ground) and I could drive the tractor right up to the gate. I got the forks under the tree trunk and lifted it off the fence then cut it in two places, loaded it up and brought it back to the house to be cut up at a later date. It wasn't a giant tree, but it was 8-10 inches in diameter. Fortunately, the fence wasn't really damaged and I don't need to do any fence work in the cold.

It is certainly a job I could never have done without my little tractor.;)
