That's so and if Vivek really believes what he says those might be very good things. We need young people and all people to realize that conservative values are best. Maybe someday I'll stop saying "if" about Vivek. :D What about Tim Scott? He's not as young, 58, but that's a good age to be president. Besides I think he really is conservative but maybe there's something I don't know.

I hope I never have to vote for a ballot with Nikki Haley on it. That would be a very rough day in my life.

If I live to 2028 I hope to cast a vote for DeSantis for president. I know people don't like him as a person but whatever that's about goes right over my head. I think he did a great job in Florida and I'd rather have dinner with him than Donald Trump. But I will vote for Trump enthusiastically. I've voted for him several times already although I don't particularly like his personality. After all, DeSantis hasn't said "grab 'em by their -----". :(

I better get out of here before I get thrown out.

I think it's nice that President Trump has so many competent people to choose his running mate from. Unlike poor Biden who is sorely lacking in competent choices. :D

I've been saying this same stuff for years and so far I'm still here. upload_2024-1-18_17-10-33.gif I can't stand Trump the man but I realize he did good things for the country. That said, if he chooses Tucker Carlson I will be abstaining from voting; that's just too much for me.

Oh, and I like DeSantis, too. I like that he is younger, conservative, and has an excellent background (education, military, etc.) I don't believe Trump will ever pick DeSantis as a running mate because he wants another wimp like Pence. Trump's ego won't allow a strong VP.

    I dunno.
Trump literally handed the reins to Gen. Mattis. He didn’t appear to try to micro-manage him from the White House and Mattis got done what he said he would do. With the good General in the lead, ISIS was stopped and nearly destroyed.
I wrote, “nearly” because as we have seen, ISIS is still in the wings trying to get a foothold again in the middle East.

Wellll, I've said it before, Trump can definitely be an ass; as was Winston Churchill. But we needed them both at the times. Illegal immigrants are overrunning the world and it is part of the WEF's plan. They HATE Trump because he will mess their plan up and they've tried everything to fight him. They buy off everyone they can, to take us down before he can make it back in.
Fortunately, other world leaders are standing up to the WEF too.
The President of Argentina gave a good speech at this meeting, saying their way was not good for the world's people.
And then there is this young whippersnapper invited to the Davos meeting.
We have to stand up to save the sovereignty of our countries. And we need someone who won't be bought.

Yeah, I think he tried to run things like he runs his businesses. I don't think he micro-manages things. He thought he could "hire" people, see if they could do the job, then replace them if they couldn't. He discovered things don't work that way in politics and government, but I don't think he knew how to deal with it till near the end of his term. The people he found competent were allowed to "run with it" and get the job(s) done. He does have a big ego, and he does like to be the center of attention, but I don't think he is a micro-manager.

Here is a similar message delivered much more elegantly by Argentina's new president:

Delegating is wise, that's a man that may be cocky, but he knows he can't do it all himself, so he delegates. Who of us always chooses the "right" person for everything?? My "likes" don't amount to anything compared to the "needs" of our country, and I know it.

I read this interesting take on Trump's possible running mate from Politico. https://www.yahoo.com/news/maga-nightmare-trump-loyalists-move-100000813.html

"The fiercest Republican campaign isn’t taking place between the presidential hopefuls in Iowa or New Hampshire this month, but rather in the backstage fight over who would be Donald Trump’s running mate. Or more to the point: who will not be Trump’s pick.

As Nikki Haley emerges as the former president’s most formidable opponent in the coming states, and toughens her rhetoric, her Trumpworld foes are intensifying their own efforts to block her from the consolation prize of the vice presidency.

Haley’s critics have even privately warned Trump that, were he to make Haley first in line to the presidency, he’d effectively be setting himself up for an intra-party coup, as GOP senators would use any legal or political pretext to remove him from office and elevate the more old guard-aligned Haley."

Sounds like more in-fighting with the Republicans is going to disrupt any possible advantage, just as it did last time Trump was elected. I don't know why I waste my time with politics; it just makes me feel defeated.

I know that defeated feeling too well Beth and I don't know why I always end up being involved because I end up feeling bad like what is the use but I guess I keep holding on to hope.

    Yup.
I’m not so much angry about the infighting as much as I am frustrated that there’s nothing I can do about it.
I mean, I’d like to be able to jerk somebody up by their silk necktie and slap ‘em until they get some sense but not only is there no one close to jerk up, it probably wouldn’t do any good anyway.

I have no problem with politicians who can think for themselves and don't necessarily "toe the party line," but I have no tolerance for nut job troublemakers like that ridiculous Matt Gaetz. In that case, I'd like to slap the people who put him in office. (Who are probably people like me, who simply voted "R" in the last election.)

I hate to say this but I can almost understand why some folks lose their one remaining marble, just out of plain fear, and do crazy things that definitely break the law. Those folks are never above the law either like some "elites" we all know too well.

What happened to Kari Lake? I thought she was dynamite to have on our side??
He's one I thought was great, at first  Now I'd love to see the end of him in our government. I vote R as well if I don't see anyone I know of on the ballot. After seeing what the biden years have done to America, I doubt I can even ever stand to talk to a democrat.

We vote for people to work for us and what we would want. How can we keep up with all the pre election politics and live our lives at the same time.. They promise one thing and vote another way once they are in, often.
