I don't see that as overly problematic unless I'm missing something. Some states already apply the minimum wage equally to tipped employees, wherein tips are over and above their minimum wage, which makes sense to me. It seems wrong to force employees to rely on tips to meet the employer's minimum wage obligation, and it's deceptive in that people who are leaving a tip have the right to expect that the tip will go to the person they are tipping, not the employer. Yes, if employers end up having to meet their minimum-wage obligations, they'll probably raise prices, and some customers might initially stop leaving tips, but they would be the exception to the rule. At any rate, I don't see it as a significant problem in Trump's campaign. At least as many people will see it as a good idea as who might not like it.
Notably, it really isn’t a HUGE problem but I am waiting to see what the National Restaurant Association is going to say about the proposal. To be truthful, when I waited tables I was making .35 cents an hour and I think the minimum wage was around $3 or so. My charged tips more than took care of the balance and I was still carrying out over $100 a day of undeclared tips.
Perhaps but the wait staff could be made exempt from minimum wage restrictions by Federal fiat. It might frustrate those states raising minimum wages if there is interstate commerce involved like at hotels and casinos. I think he did it to help his cause in Nevada, as the proposal was very popular in Las Vegas and many Dems asked, "Why didn't ewe think of that?"
Las Vegas is a union city when it comes to wait and bar staff (in major establishments) so maybe Trump’s proposition is a good way to make that union smile a bit in the Republican direction.
'New Money' He knows where the bodies are buried. All, the corruption. They are afraid of being exposed. He has schmoosed with them, played golf with them, drunk with them---a lot comes out that way. They must put him down!
My concern is still the millions of illegals who have been provided driver's licenses and photo id's. The good news is that Biden has done a turn around with regard to illegals and maybe they will see that they are just pawns.
November is eons away. Voters have horribly short memories. Put a dish of ice cream in front of us the day before the election, and--even though you beat us a week earlier--you got our vote. I hope I'm wrong this time.
I always remember the confidence and polls that all said Hillary would beat Trump, so I never care what the polls say.
Not really. They are just going to quit processing them after the limit has been reached. They're not being returned to Mexico.
