I've not investigated his Senate record. One would think that Trump will give the guy a lot of spotlight to set him up for 2028.
Trump Announces Head of EPA Trump's choice is Lee Zeldin (R-N.Y.), who represented New York’s 1st Congressional District from 2015 to 2023. Prior to his time in Congress, Zeldin was in the U.S. Army and deployed to Iraq. He then served in the state Senate before becoming a congressman. Zeldin's appointment must be approved by the Senate. I wonder if @Tony Page has any insights on the guy, since Zeldin's district included most of Long Island.
Zeldin is one of the congressmen who didn’t want to approve the 2020 election, so that seems like he is one of the Good Guys.
Love Homan for the border..loved how he shut down a reporter questioning the high cost of deporting and he asked her..how much is security worth..
He supported Trump during his 1st impeachment hearing. He ran for Governor lost to Hochol a Democrat in a blue state. I like Him he'll fit in with MAGA.
We now have Marco Rubio as Secretary if State, from what i am just reading, so that is another senate spot that will have to be re-filled. DeSantis will be choosing who that might be. Trump Jr would be nice …..
I wonder if that move was to get him out of the Senate and to free the spot up for a predetermined replacement. While SOS is an important position (it required someone of Hillary's caliber), his fingers won't be in any domestic pie. And he can't block legislation from there.
Trump is strongly leaning towards Kash Patel for one of several national security posts (Director of the CIA, the FBI or National Intelligence.) Patel previously served as a National Security Council official, senior adviser to the acting director of national intelligence and chief of staff to the secretary of defense. Rumor has it that Trump is strongly leaning towards putting him in charge of the CIA. NY Post article Here's an interview of him with Shawn Ryan.
Now hearing that Kash is going to head the CIA, and the story of Rubio might not be true. Some one posted that is came from a NYT writer, and not from the Trump headquarters, so we just have to see how that one turns out. However, it was pointed out that if Rubio is Sec of State and does not perform to Trumps standards, then he could be fired and replaced, and then would be out of politics (at least for now) since the Senate position would have already been refilled by then. They are still trying to get the senate to do an open vote for the leader, and still people who are not supporting Scott, and our Katie Britt is quite possibly one of those, since she was pretty much funded in her campaign by Mitch McConnell, who trashed her opponent with GOP funds so that she would win. On the plus side, it sounds like Trump will bring the Space Force headquarters back here to Alabama, where he wanted it before. Since Huntsville is home to NASA, and other space agencies, this seems like the best place for it to be.
Reuters says "Sources say" and "Trump is expected to," so the offer has not been made, nor has it been accepted. At least, there's no reporting of it moving beyond just a state of anticipation. Some are saying that DeSantis might be eyeing Rubio's vacancy for himself.
Trump has selected Mike Waltz (R-FL) to be his National Security Advisor. This position does not require Senate confirmation. Waltz, who is a retired Green Beret colonel and Afghanistan War veteran, has represented Florida’s 6th Congressional District since 2019. Link to very short Breitbart News announcement
I thought I'd keep track of the current status of appointments at the bottom of the first post in this thread, updating it as required. Let me know if I'm missing anything or if I've goofed something up. There are way more open positions than the one I show. I can add them as I become aware of them.
