Well damn, I sure didn't know how many "cabinet" members there were to fill!! I think some names sound like the same job, but I guess I have more studying to do if I want to know, which I do ;)

I knew my list was lacking, but I had to research to get the complete list. So many of them fade into the background (when's the last time we herd anything out of the Small Business Administration?) Kennedy's MAHA site says they have over 4,000 appointments to make. I have no idea what that means.

From something someone said on a podcast, possibly Vivek or Elon, they will also make recommendations for other positions that need to be filled beyond the cabinet positions. That might be it.

Yeh, I gotta think they are trying to staff agencies with folks of their choice. I mentioned that Dr. Peter McCullough is high on the list of folk's recommendations, but he's not to be nominated as an agency head. They must be going down one or two tiers on the org chart below the top guy (or gal.) Four thousand positions is a heck of a lot for them to have on their radar screens. I wonder if it's part of them getting rid of the [substantial] fat...put people in at the top levels and have them determine appropriate staffing levels.

That might have been one of his problems in 2016. He appointed some of the wrong people for the top positions and depended on them to fill the positions beneath them. If they were new, they probably depended a lot on people ensconced in the department and, therefore, part of the swamp. If they were experienced government officials, they were themselves compromised.

I saw that and wondered the same thing. That's like quitting your job because you just had a good job interview.

There are two spins to Gaetz's resignation:

1-Get the replacement process started in time for the new guy to be there for the first session of the new Congress.

2-Escape the ongoing ethics investigations he's been under for drugs and underage girls.

I have no idea what to believe. I have no first-hand data, and it's typical Washington DC stuff.

Yeah, I read the comments on that article. Still seems odd to me.

I agree. There are folks saying that the guy may have a law degree but he does not have many years of practicing under his belt. There is concern over his ability to do the job. So if this one gets tossed, other than the optics, it's not a significant loss, other than the disruption of that seat in the Senate.

I like Gaetz, but I would have preferred keeping him in Congress. Whatever occurs, his being named indicates Trump's sincerity in wanting to ferret out the corruption in the Attorney General's office because that has been one of his central issues.

As for scandals, I don't know the truth of any of them, but I do know that any Republican who threatens the global agenda is going to have scandals. They will always be able to find someone willing to accuse anyone of anything. That's a part of their playbook.

I just read someone pointing out that since Gaetz has resigned, that makes him eligible for Rubio's seat if Gaetz's appointment is not confirmed by the Senate. Wouldn't THAT be interesting? He would be coworkers with those who refused to confirm his nomination, and Trump would move a staunch supporter from the House to the Senate. Not bad for a worse-case scenario.

Others were saying this appointment is a low-risk way for Trump to flesh out who his enemies in the Senate are.

Gaetz was in the House, so his seat would have to be filled by a special election. Since a couple House members from Florida have been nominated I think, they could all be replaced in one election process, thus saving the state of Florida money. Rubio can be replaced by Governor DeSantis, so there wouldn't be a delay. The Democrats are apparently planning all kinds of things to make Trump's second term difficult, especially in the Senate since they now control it. Pulling all these people from the House to serve in the Executive Branch would probably give the Democrats a temporary majority in the House as well, so they could REALLY get up to mischief if they held all three branches, even if it was only temporary. That has been my fear all along.
