Don't most people get enough niacin in their diet? I eat lots of fish, especially salmon. I don't know what a too high dose is without looking it up but I did know someone who was taking a large dose and suffered liver damage. The person did die later but I don't know the reason he died so I'm not saying that was the cause of death but years prior to his death he started having liver problems and no, he wasn't an alcoholic or anything...on the contrary, he was very health conscience. I also don't remember the reason he was taking the niacin but talking about the niacin flush reminded me of the whole thing. I also don't know if he had his liver function tested periodically or not.

    As for sex....what's that? :)

I have no idea if most people get enough niacin in their diet. I was only relating why I take niacin, and how it has helped me personally. I have congestive heart failure, and my heart is unable to pump blood through my body as well as a normal heart would be able to do. Niacin opens up the tiny capillaries and allows my blood to circulate better and helps me not to get cold as easily as I do otherwise.
Plus, when it opens up the capillaries, it also cleans out any toxins trapped in there due to the blood not being able to circulate enough otherwise.
Since niacin helps many other issues, such as triglycerides, memory loss, arthritis pain, as well as heart disease, for me it is extremely beneficial.

Possibly your friend had taken the time-release niacin, which is known to cause liver damage ? The article that I linked to earlier can explain how all that works if you are interested, @Chrissy Page .

:)Ahh the little turmeric herb that doesn't have much taste, but has a lot of effects for bettering life and health. One day watching Dr. Oz show they spoke a little about turmeric and it's affects to stop Alzheimer disease and to put a sprinkle in your coffee to help stave off Alzheimer disease! I found this blog by Dr. Oz team to help understand the many good things about turmeric! It's an herb that can whiten your teeth too.

I don't know what he took, Yvonne. It was a while ago. What you wrote triggered a memory about him and his liver problem. Was just asking if a dose can be too high.

Hopefully I get enough in my diet and so far that I know I don't have heart problems but then all my tests are just beginning, so who knows...time will tell.
