Also...and I hate to be a downer but since we are seniors, dying is part of the equation.

Have you given any thought to what would happen if one of you died??

I know I'm getting off topic ...way off..but it just popped into my head.

You see everyone is different...we don't even sleep in the same room. He snores like a train, and so I sleep in another room with earplugs in..because even through brick walls I can hear him if I don't have them in...

You know what, if he stopped snoring tomorrow, I couldn't go back to sleeping in the same bed as someone else. I've got too used to my own space, and not being disturbed by someone else's elbow in my face in the middle of a deep sleep .. :D

We usually go together when we go shopping in Bangor because it's a 70-mile trip, each way, and she sometimes gets tired coming back. Plus, we only go to Bangor every couple of weeks, so there are things we both need. I do all the cat shopping because I feed them, and know what they are likely to eat or refuse to eat. I don't usually buy canned cat food online because I usually have to purchase a whole case of one kind of food, and the cats will be sick of it long before I get through a case. As for grocery shopping, often I'll go with her in order to make sure that we have something that I like.

I remember doing that with a boyfriend while I was in my teens....chucked him because everywhere I went he was there, I never got time to breathe air that he wasn't already breathing...he'd be waiting for me at the bus stop when I got off the bus from work, it drove me insane!!

We have had lots of time apart over the years. I worked long hours and was gone as much as 15 or 16 hours a day. My wife was concerned with raising children for many years, then she ran the little farm and kept up with gardens and livestock. As I got older, I shortened my work schedule, and had more time at home and with the children that were still here. Now I am retired and at home most of the time, but since my fall, I am limited as to what I can do. We have always shared a bed, even when I couldn't move much. She thought it was her duty to be by my side. Now we work around the house and farm together, but she has a seasonal job and works through most of the winter while I stay at home. I try to have her dinner waiting when she gets home, just as she did for me for several decades.

@Holly Saunders I don't know, wife always worked, both of us couldn't get off at same time. Most often just didn't have the money to spare for a two weeker. Always seemed more logical to work one week and get paid.

During a couple of short vacations, when we had to fly somewhere, we had a Husky. We put her into a dog day/night care center. She was fine and we were able to see on at the motel we were are on a computer playing with other dogs.

Wife and I always believed in taking a week of vacation from work during the year. Other than a few days during the end of each month, when she had to work extra hours for end-of-month close (accounting thing) at one job she had, we were always together each night and entire weekend. I worked from 7AM to 3:30PM and she worked from 8:30AM to 5PM. For the 4 1/2 years I was with a company in Colorado, I only had to work overtime (on a Saturday AM) once. Other than that one time, I wasn't allowed to work any overtime and that was fine with me. I don't think I've ever had a job where I've had to work much overtime, perhaps an hour once in awhile, but that was it. After 8 hours, I was headed home.

Sounds llike a wonderful trip. My son goes to Spain every few years, has given lectures and held seminars at University of Seville. He also studied in Seville for a year on a scholarship. He also met his wife in Seville who is Italian. I'm getting somewhat long of tooth to be running around the world. Hope you have a wonderful trip.

We have a second home in Southern Spain @Bill Boggs ..and my daughter lives in Spain and has a business there also..

We try and fly out there a couple of times a year if we can.

Although we've travelled all over Southern Spain over the many years we've had our home, we'd never visited Seville , which is only a 2 hour drive from my daughters' place in Malaga , until last summer.

I have to say of all the cities I've visited I disliked Seville the most unfortunately..

Good for your son, does he and his wife live near you now?

Yes, he lives near the university. I live in a working class neighborhood a couple of miles from him.
