Ugh. During Hurricane Harvey, a barge hit the I-10 bridge at the San Jacinto River, and it was closed for almost a year for repair. After being reopened FINALLY several months ago, another barge hit it yesterday in the storm and it's closed again. This is drone footage of the damage to the bridge; looks like we're in for another year of traffic hell.

That looks awful ! What a mess, and looks like it is going to be shut down for a long time to do the repairs.

Yes; it took them almost a year to repair ONE support last time, so this will be a traffic snarl for a long time. I-10 is a major artery.

Until someone lives in an area where getting around depends relying on a damaged bridge being repaired, it's probably hard to realize just how truly INCONVENIENT it is. I know it's a major pain!!! I don't know why they take so long to repair, but they sure do.

It looks like that stuff will be headed for us tomorrow. But not tornadoes, I hope.

Be safe, @Bobby Cole and @Yvonne Smith

Some of the areas around us got hit fairly hard but all we got was a lot of wind, rain and an absolutely brilliant light and sound show!

You’re probably one step ahead of me this morning. Thus far, the greatest tragedy is that the coffee pot is giving me trouble and I had to wash all the works out and start again.
When I get a full pot of coffee, then I’ll look and see what happened around us on our local channel. Coffee first, then I can cope with everything else on a much grander scale. :)

As far as I can see, we didn’t have any problems here last night. They did announce that there was a tornado a ways west of here; but it went on northeast and most of the really bad storms hit further north.
Like Bobby said, we had amazing lightning and thunder. Poor Poodle is terrified of thunder and loud noise, so he was either on my lap or wrapped around my feet the whole time.
Robin and I were talking on the phone, and she was watching the lightning also, so we “oohed and aahed” over the storm together. One blast of lightning seemed like it was right in our back yard, and it lit up the whole yard.
Since we were both on the phone, Robin and I heard everything through the phones as well as what we heard outside. So , we heard each other’s thunder twice, once on the phone as it happened, and again outside as the rumble reached us.
Robin had her camera and she took a picture of herself, soaking wet , standing in her driveway, watching the storm. Just as she took the picture, lightning flashed.
Because it was a Live Photo from her iPhone, we can actually hold our finger on the picture, watch it come to life and see the lightning flash lighting up her face !

Out of curiosity, Bobby, what kind of weather do you folks get in the summertime? You already know what we get in the winter and in summer it's rain/t-storms.

Mid summer is about hot and very hot with just a touch of hot every now and then. Of course, the occasional hot that comes along with the hot is slightly relieving but only for those who like it hot.
