Just goes to show they don't necessarily need help, although they didn't fight against drones and missiles then. I once thought that the Finnish-Russian border would be the beginning of WWIII, although Russian pretty much brought them to heel after WWII. The Finns had one good general and after he was lost, they were toast.
One military historian I listened to said Putin is using a very complex plan of attack with very complex logistical issues. This led him to believe that perhaps he planned further adventures if the attack on Ukraine was successful. I don't know if I mentioned the folks I met who were immigrants form Ukraine and Russia. The husband was Russian and grew up in Moscow, and the wife was born in Ukraine and came to Alaska after they married. They will not carry on conversations anywhere near a cell phone, as they felt the population was monitored by turning on the microphones of cellphones targeted people. I don't know if they were politically active there or not, and I don't know if they have reasons to believe that. I know China does monitor everyone via their phones and provide phones to people for that very reason. Their location (GPS) satellites are bi-directional so they track the phones they target quite easily.
Moving back a bit from the inevitable "fog of war", The Federalist has an interesting article entitled The West Could Have Prevented The Russo-Ukrainian War, But Chose Not To.
The day Russia crossed the border the Dow went up a couple hundred points and NASDAQ rose around 50 or so.
Interesting information about Zelenskyy. He is an actor who played the president of Ukraine, and then ran for the office of the presidency and became the actual president.
Keep in mind that gas prices of $7 a gallon are a goal of the Great Reset. The elite can afford to travel, as can those whose travel is paid for by the taxpayers, but the rest of us cannot.
In case the Ukraine War leads to nuclear conflict: The US government has a long history of fun and interesting advice when it comes to imminent death... Now, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, or FEMA, has issued updated guidance to its "Nuclear Explosion" readiness public awareness website, which includes tips to avoid Covid! "A nuclear explosion may occur with or without a few minutes warning," reads the page, which was updated on Friday. "Fallout is most dangerous in the first few hours after the detonation when it is giving off the highest levels of radiation. It takes time for fallout to arrive back to ground level, often more than 15 minutes for areas outside of the immediate blast damage zones. FEMA recommends the following steps to prevent 'significant radiation exposure,' which include "Try to maintain a distance of at least six feet between yourself and people who are not part of your household," and "If possible, wear a mask if you're sheltering with people who are not part of your household."
1. The Ruble dropped in value by 50% overnight and Europe has issued a no fly mandate for Russian citizens and that also goes for private aircraft. 2. The SWIFT banking system which includes around 400 different banks are no longer doing business with Russia. (Those 400 or so main banks control thousands of local banks) 3. Citizens of Russia are in the streets protesting the war which is a little dangerous since protesting the Russian government can cost a citizen 20 years in prison. 4. Putin is definitely talking about nuclear options. Note: I heard that there are some folks in Birmingham, Alabama who are demonstrating against Russia and the war. Dunno but that pretty much sounds like a waste of time.
The West has now removed most Russian banks from the SWIFT system, which will, in the long term, hurt the dollar badly, as it pushes Russia into the system already established by the BRICS nations to supplant the dollar. This move will accelerate the switch and make many other nations realize how vulnerable they are to economic warfare from the Western nations (and Japan) and they will be looking for alternative systems as well. This was the financial "Nuclear Option" (or "nucular" as our presidents Bush and the current United Nations ambassador say) that will perhaps come back to bite the West , particularly the U.S., in the butt. Pushing China, Russia, India and Brazil together economically will not be a good thing for the Petrodollar. The oil and gas shipments to Europe, Russia's principal export, were left untouched by this move and left on the SWIFT system.
Meanwhile, Joe Biden, the veritable fount of all wisdom and knowledge, has advised (paraphrased) that if nuclear weapons are used, people should remember to social distance and wear masks. Even though we know that it was a stupid idea, his advice was “more stupider” than being told as kids in school to sit along the walls and cover our heads.
