I've eaten roasted grubs (tasted like pork fat) and lemon ants (tasted like...well....lemons) but never crickets. I did eat fried worms once (tasted like fried shoelaces).
I have tried some kind of chocolate covered insect, and it tasted just like chocolate. That being the case, it makes more sense to just buy chocolate and not have to deal with the disgusting aspect of it.
I have always said that you can put a little bit of chocolate on almost anything and it would be good. But crickets? Ummm, I think I'll pass. I wonder if they pull the legs off first? They would be scraping all the way down.
I am going to stick with green smoothies and the occasional glass of kefir , thank you. You may have my share of the crickets, whether roasted or even covered in chocolate. This might be the year I decide to be a vegetarian......
I’d eat crickets over worms any day. Probably plenty of worms and stuff in out food...we just don’t know it.
I once had a friend who would dry earthworms in her oven, then crush them and put them into her chocolate chip cookies as "walnuts". Nobody ever realized what they were eating unless told, and they were quite good.
It appears that you can just get them fresh if you live in Mecca. For some unknown reason they are experiencing an epidemic of locusts in that city, and are having quite a time, trying to exterminate them. Maybe what they need is just a bunch of locust eaters to go over and get those bugs roasted for dinner ?
