    I guess most want to keep their stories secret, which is fine, but at our age, what's the fun in taking them with you? J.K. :D

    I myself, love true stories and would like to hear more. So will come back later and post another one soon. :)

    I will tell a little more about Daddy's cousin, DA. He use to gather us, brothers, around, in the booths, and wrap nylon string around his hands and break it. It would cut through his hands but he didn't act as if it bothered him a bit.:rolleyes: Then when we took him home at night, we would be going around fifty miles an hour, and he would open the back door and stand up with his foot on the pavement and sparks would be flying from his shoes, we would be trying to pull him back in the car. I was maybe nine in those years, and he really shocked me, quite a few times, with how crazy and strong he was. :confused:

    @Jake Smith
    I’m Aussie so I’m talking about a town in New South Wales ( Australia )
    There is a milkbar in the town where I grew up that still looks like that picture you posted of the diner.
    The milk bar is still the same as it was when I was a child way back in the 1950’s along with identical black and white vinyl floor tiles I’ll google it to find out of I can find a photo of what I’m talking about it’s called Bells milk bar

    Here are some photos off the net I found

    They have been famous for many years due to the reputation of making the best syrups that are closely guarded like the Kentucky chicken recipe

    Those pictures look a little like our cafes and drug store soda fountains here in the late 50s early 60s. Most drug stores had soda fountains; did you have them in Australia?

    That's really nice, Kate, I love the photos too. Hard to believe that it's still been there since your childhood, "unbelievable". I really appreciate your contribution and sharing. I get all kinds of feelings when I see photos, that reminds me of the past. So you still going to it, I bet the memories are something else.
    I couldn't imagine, our old grille still being around, or visiting it, that would be something. I bet their syrup, is "tasty", and good.:)

    All the places I use to go, have long been gone, you're very lucky to be able to go back and relive old memories again, wish I had that option. I think it would be nice to see familiar places and maybe visit some old friends. :)

    I was born / raised in that town which was a thriving mining town ,however all the mines are now closed so the towns population has dwindled away to a mere 16.000 .( i still have family living there )

    There was a picture theatre a few doors from Bells milkbar so it was always a thriving business especially so on Saturday’s for for the “Pictures” as we called the movies .

    The only other closet city / town to BH is Adelaide which is South Australia ….500 Km away or a small town of about 30.000 people called Mildura other than that it’s a very isolated city / town that now lives on tourism $$$$
